The IU Research and Technology Corporation, located near the IUPUI campus, oversees intellectual property at Indiana University. Through license agreements, patent applications and assisting faculty with startup companies, the IURTC has housed over 30 companies, graduated 13 clients, and created over 370 Hoosier jobs, at an average salary of $61,000. In fiscal year 2009, IUPUI investigators disclosed 94 inventions. Twenty companies entered into license agreements for IUPUI inventions, and 93 patent applications were filed on IUPUI inventions. Innovate Indiana is the name for Indiana University’s efforts to channel the university’s vast resources to strengthen the Hoosier economy.
