Fury FC are ready to kick off their first USL season and the will be looking to carry over the confidence earned in preseason. First stop: Saint Louis FC, Saturday evening at the Toyota Stadium. There were plenty of positives over the past eight weeks. The club established its presence early on in the preseason starting things off with three wins in four games, including a 2-1 win against Saint Louis FC during Fury FC’s week-long camp at the IMG Academy. Newcomers Sito Seoane (5), Tucker Hume (4) and Steevan Dos Santos (3) were impressive during training camp, scoring 12 of Ottawa’s 19 goals. Gerardo Bruna, who missed almost the entire 2016 season because of an injury came back with a lot of ambition ahead of 2017. The Argentinian netted four goals in preseason action. Fury FC capped off their preseason schedule with an impressive performance against the Montreal Impact last Friday in a friendly scrimmage, picking up a convincing 2-0 win. Ottawa will now look to kick off the season with a strong performance in Saint Louis. Paul Dalglish’s side will be squaring off against a familiar face as former Fury FC goalkeeper Devala Gorrick is now with Saint Louis. after spending last season with Colorado and earning an USL All-League Second Team honors while ranking in the league’s top five for saves, save percentage, goals-against average and minutes. What are they saying? Fury FC GM and Head Coach, Paul Dalglish: “We’re impatient, we’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time. We’re ready to go and we want to come out of the gates flying. The team this year will mirror the type of football that I want to see and I am 100% confident that we will be successful and that we have the ability to achieve great things.” “I’ve known Preki since he was in Sacramento. He has a very recognizable style of play, so we know what to expect from them. It’s a team that builds from the back with loads of possession, so we will be ready.” Fury FC Captain, Lance Rozeboom: “We’re really excited, it’s been a long preseason of tough training, but we’re excited to play our opener and we feel ready. We’ll have to match their intensity in the first half and then stay focused throughout the game and stick to our game plan.” Fury FC defender, Eddie Edward: “The guys are ready. We are really looking forward to Saturday. We had a really good preseason, with lots of energy displayed at training and in games and we want to keep that going. We have a very good and talented group of guys and we are all really excited for what we can achieve this season.” 2017 OTTAWA FURY FC ROSTER Years @ # NAME POS HT WT DOB FT NATIONALITY FURY PRONUNCIATION 1 Callum Irving GK 6-0 193 3/16/93 R Canadian 1 Kal-uhm ER-Ving 2 Jonathan Barden M 6-0 171 11/9/92 R English 1 Bar-Den 3 Eddie Edward D 5-11 205 9/20/88 R Canadian 2 Edward 4 Ramon Martin Del Campo D 6-2 200 7/5/93 R American 1 Mar-teen Dell-Cam-Poh 5 Kyle Venter D 6-3 193 3/13/91 L American 2 Ven-Turr 6 Shane McEleney D 6-3 215 1/31/91 R Irish 1 Mac-ill-len-ee 7 Ryan Williams M 5-8 166 4/8/91 R British 2 Williams 8 Steevan Dos Santos F 6-4 208 9/17/89 R Cape Verdean 1 Dos Santos 9 Carl Haworth F 5-8 158 7/9/89 R Canadian 4 How-worth 10 Gerardo Bruna M 5-10 162 1/29/91 L Argentinian 2 Je-rardo Brew-nah 11 Sito Seoane F 5-8 165 3/16/89 L American 1 See-toe 12 Andrae Campbell D 5-10 165 3/14/89 L American 1 Awn-dreh 14 Onua Thomas Obasi D 6-4 193 9/24/88 L British 2 AW-Neh-Wa 18 Tucker Hume F 6-5 203 8/22/94 R American 1 H-yOOm 22 Jamar
