We have looked at how God not only did incredible things in the lives of the saints, but also in our lives as well. The reality is this, Jesus asks us to do really incredible things in the world, be- cause he has given us the power to do so. One of the incredible tasks Jesus calls us to is the healing of those who are hurt in the world. We have talked about how to recognize the needs of others and how we can reach out as disciples of Jesus Christ to make them healthy and happy members of Christ’s body. But you know the really amazing thing? We’ve discovered that Jesus also wants parents, grandparents and others in our community to do the same! You and I are made for truly incredible things in this world be- cause we are adopted sons and daughters of God. Knowing this, we go out into the world and reach out to those in need in our families, community and schools. One area we have talked a lot about is how to help the “lost sheep” of our own families and communi- ty. Simply put, the sheep have gone missing and we are called on to find them and guide them back to the fold. The question is how is this to be accomplished? The sheep of Jesus’ flock are a difficult bunch at times, they tend to wander away never really taking stock of where they are going and how they might return. So, we have discovered that the only way we can bring those sheep safely home is through our constant care and concern for them. That means inviting them home and listening patiently to their concerns. It means talking with them about God’s desire to love them as members of his family. It means never giving up and sharing our own faith journey with others. Jesus calls on us, just like he did the disciples of the very first Church, to face the challenges and needs of this present age head on.
