Mr. ZahidMahboob, Director Training &Programme / Secretary, PBSA was the Chairman of the Selection Team. Other Team members included Mr. Abdul SamadChishti Secretary AJK BSA, Mr. Muhammad Tariq Qureshi Secretary Punjab BSA, Mr. Muhammad Wali Dy. Secretary GB BSA, Mr. Abdul Gaffar Butt Leader Trainer, Mr. FarhanShahid Best Rover of the year 2017, Mr. ShakirUllah (Gold Medalist) Rep. of National Youth Council, Maj. (R) Shafqatullah (Gold Medalist) Rep. of Golden Circle and Mr. Asif Mahmood Secretary National Training and Program Sub-Committee. The youth from Pakistan Boy Scouts Association (PBSA) was also invited to participate in this dialogue. Mr. Asad Qaiser, Speaker National assembly chaired the event. Parliamentarians including Mr. Usman Dar Special advisor to Prime Minister on Youth Affairs, Ms. Wajiha Akram Parliamentary Secretary on Education and some other representing all prominent political parties were present to shares their performance/point of views with the youth. Some selected youth were provided the opportunity to ask their questions related to the topic. Mr. Ahmad Bilal, President PILDAT and Mr. Ignacio Artaza, Resident Representative UNDP were also present on the occasion. Representative youth from National Youth Council, PBSA attended the event and share their point of view in scouting perspective. 2 Pak-Scouts MONTHLY NEWSLETTER Feb, 2019 APR Induction & Orientation Meeting APR Induction & Orientation for the APR Scout & Sub Committee (s) of Asia Pacific Region was held at Indonesian Embassy at Bangkok from 24-29 January, 2019. It was hosted by Chairman APR Scout Committee Mr. Ahmad Rusdi’s Ambassador of Indonesia at Thailand. This was a joint venture of Asia Pacific Region, National Scout Organization of Thailand & Scout Association of Japan and Green Pramuka (Indonesia). Following Committee(s) for the term 2018-21 were inducted and oriented: - APR Scout Committee - APR Programme Sub Committee - APR Adults in Scouting Sub Committee - APR Governance Sub Committee - APR Financial Sub Committee - APR Communication & Partnership Sub-Committee Meetings of the following committees waere also held: - APR Scout Foundation Management Committee - APR Awards Committee - APR Scouts Supply Chain Inc. Management Team Cow Boy Party was also hosted by National Scout Organization of Thailand in the honour of all participants. 3 Pak-Scouts MONTHLY NEWSLETTER Feb, 2019 Appointments in Sub-Committee from PBSA Pakistan Boy Scouts Association has been represented in the following Asia Pacific Regional Sub-Committee for the next three years 2018-2021: - Mr. Zahid Mahboob - Vice Chairman APR Adults in Scouting Sub-Committee - Mr. Rizwan Jaffer - Vice Chairman APR Scouting Profile Sub-Committee - Mr. Sabir Hussain Niazi - Member APR Governance Sub Committee - Mr. Zubair Al-Farooq Lodhi - Member APR Finance Sub-Committee 4 Pak-Scouts MONTHLY NEWSLETTER Feb, 2019 19th Provincial Council Meeting of Sindh BSA 19th Meeting of the Provincial Council of Sindh Boy Scouts Association was held on 28th January 2019 at Governor House, Karachi. Governor and Chief Scout Sindh Mr. Imran Ismail presided the meeting. Former Provincial Commissioner Sindh BSA Mr. Muhammad Siddique Memon was also present on the occasion. All the members of provincial Council participated in the meeting. Different matters of Sindh BSA were discussed in the meeting. The house unanimously elected Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, Chief Secretary Sindh as Provincial Commissioner of Sindh BSA. The house also acknowledged the services of Mr. Muhammad Siddique Memon for the growth and promotion of scouting in Sindh and elected him as Chief Patron of Sinsh BSA. The meeting was ended with the vote of thanks. 5 Pak-Scouts MONTHLY NEWSLETTER Feb, 2019 Scouts on the Air Members National Youth Council PBSA had the opportunity to express their views on Radio Pakistan in the Program JAIZA on 31st Jan 2019. Mr. ShakirUllahChairman NYC and MrSiraz Ahmad Secretary NYC shared their views on youth initiatives of PBSA in the perspective of SDGs. This was the first experience of NYC members to raise their voice through mass media. Hopefully, this learning will enhance the experience of the NYC members and be a source of spreading and sharing the scout initiatives to inspire the non-scout youth as well. 6 Pak-Scouts MONTHLY NEWSLETTER Feb, 2019 Scouting Activities at Amin House Rose Educational Society organized two different special camps for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts at Amin House, Karachi on 25th and 26th January 2019 respectively. The main focus of the camp was growth of Girls and Boys in Scouting in the context of UN SDGs. A large number of girl scouts and boy scouts from Layari, Karachi participated in these camps. Besides the traditional activities of scout camping, participants were introduced SDGs and the role of scouts to implement SDGs during scout activities. Mr. Anwar Ali Bhatti and other members and supporters of Rose Educational Society visited the camps and addressed the scouts. They appreciated the efforts of the organizers and congratulated the team for successfully organizing the camps. 7 Pak-Scouts MONTHLY NEWSLETTER Feb, 2019 6th All Punjab Snow Hike for Rover Scouts & Leaders 6th All Punjab Snow Hike was organized by Punjab Boy Scouts Association from 25th to 28th January, 2019. Hike participants reported at Snow covered Scouts Nasheman, Ghoragali on 25th January, 2019. Snow falling again started during the lunch. Necessary arrangements were made and hikers spent that chill cold night at Scouts Nasheman. Mercury fell to – 3c. 96 hikers reported to avail this unique opportunity of adventure. Rovers and Leaders from different corners of the province gathered to exchange their experiences and knowledge in different patrols. Hike was formally inaugurated by Mr. Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, Provincial Secretary, (Additional Charge) just after the breakfast on 26th January, 2019. Hikers started their first phase of hike from Ghoragali to Barian via Murree. They had a short halt at Kuldana for lunch after passing by snowy Murree city. Chanting slogans and captivated with bounties of nature, they reached Govt. A.D Higher Secondary School, Barian situated at the border of Punjab & Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces for overnight stay. Temperature further fell to – 9c. They started their preparation for next destination i.e. Mushkpuri Top via Pipeline just after the Fajar Prayer on 27th January. Rovers and Leaders were provided transport for Dunga Gali from where they started their hike towards Mushkpuri. En route to Mushkpuri, they came to know that Nathia Gali Track has not been completely restored. There were piles of Snow everywhere and many vehicles were stuck up on the Snow Capped roads. Hikers helped the riders and were appreciated by the tourists. Hikers could go only 2 kilometer on Mushkpuri track but completed the pipeline track. Temperature was – 11c at the ending point. Trees were clad in white dress of snow. Only white colour was prevailing everywhere. Return journey to Barian took a long time due to traffic jam. However hikers managed to reached back safely. Later they enjoyed grand Camp Fire and Dinner. Next morning after the Breakfast hikers left the place in better clean shape and left only thanks for the School Administration. Mr. Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, Provincial Secretary was the Chief Guest on Closing Ceremony. All the hikers thanked the Provincial Secretary for organizing such an adventurous and purposeful event. The Provincial Secretary, in his address, appreciated the tireless efforts of Hike Staff specially Mr. Muhammad Adil Farooq, Hike Leader for his deep involvement in giving this hike a real success.
