And competition, be it regional or International, is always an amazing learning experience. The way Voice represented Region 21 like I see it, there are two opportunities for competition education – one is through competition participation the awesome champions they are and the other through competition observation. Though the benefits of both are plentiful, I’d like to discuss and we can’t say enough about further competition participation, as I believe learning by “doing” is a most powerful thing. SparX, Shimmer! and Razzcals! Competition participation is so misunderstood! We must always remember the real reason we compete. We’ll see you all in Hawaii! Membership Coordinator, Karen Ridout First, the good news for Region 21 – we have a new prospective chapter in Surprise, AZ. It’s exciting to have another membership growth opportunity in our region. Each and every one of you has the same opportunity to promote growth within your chorus. Although our rate of loss has slowed to 1.6% down from 2.4% the previous year, the Sweet Adeline organization is still losing members. Natural attrition is 20% a year. If one in four guests joins, you need 16 guests to gain four new members. It is our job to bring guests to help our organization flourish. Did you know we have a membership growth campaign in our region this year? It’s Laderman by Karen Photo the “GROW” Award: Golden West Region 21 Recruits and Retains Outstanding Women Singers.
