WESTON, INC. Lionville Laboratory CLIENT: TRC/SHIELD ALLOY SAMPLES RECEIVED: 10-31-90 RFW #: 9011L400, GC/E”S VOLATILE W.0. #: 2724-05-01 NARRATIVE The set of samples consisted of eight (8) water samples, six (6) soil samples and one (1) sediment sample collected on 10-31-90. The samples were analyzed according to criteria set forth in CLP SOW 2/88 (Rev. 5.89) for TCL Volatile target compounds on 11-07,08-90. The following is a summary of the QC results accompanying these sample results and a description of any problems encountered during their analysis: 1. Non-target compounds were not detected in these samples. 2. All surrogate recoveries were within EPA QC limits. 3. All water matrix spike recoveries were within EPA QC limits. Soil matrix spike and spike duplicate samples are associated with RFW lot 9010L363. 4. The laboratory blanks contained the common contaminant methylene chloride and acetone at levels less than 4x the CRQL. 5. Internal standard area were outside control limits for sample SMC-SD3-01. This sample was re-analyzed on 11-07-90 and similar results were obtained. Re-analysis results are available upon request. 6. All samples and method blanks analyzed on Instrument 5100 B contained a system contaminant which appeared to be acetic acid. This peak has been labeled on the chromatogram. The associated nmerical value is the estimated sample quantitation limit which is inclukd ani aum=ct& for dilution and percent misture. J = Indicates an esthted value. lhis flag is used either when esththg a concentration for tentatively identified where a 1:1 response is assumed or when the mass spectml data Wcate the presence of a CQnpcPlIlcf that xneets the identification criteria txlt the result is less than the &ified detection limit but greater than zero; for example, if the limit of detection is 10 ug/L and a concentration of 3 ug/L is calculated, it is reported as U. B = This flag is used when the analyte is found in the associated blank as well as in the sample. rt mates ps.sible/probable blank contamination. 'Ihis flag is also used for a TIC as well as for a positively identified IW, cOmpOurd. E = Irdicates that the campourd was detected beyond the calibration raqe and was fllbsequently analyzed at a dilution. I = Interference. X = Additional qualifiers used as required are explained in the case. narrative. NQ = Result qualitatively confirred but not able to quantify. ABBREVIATIONS BS = Indicates blank spike in which reagent grade water is spiked with the CLp matrix spikbq solutions and CaKied thrm@ all the steps in the method. Spike meries are reported. BSD = Indicates blank spike duplicate. Ms = Indicatesmatrixspike. ED= IrdicateS matrix spike duplicate. DL = Indicates that surrogate mameries were not obtained because the extract had to be diluted for analysis. NA = Not applicable. DF = Dilution factor. NR = Notrequid. 1A CLIENT SAMPLE NO.
