In 2008, at the age of 12, Peter Moore became the youngest ever winner of the BBC Young Musician Competition. At the age of 18 he was appointed co-principal trombone of the London Symphony Orchestra and in 2015 joined the BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist scheme. He has been nominated by the Barbican as a European Concert Halls Organisation Rising Star during the 2018/19 season. Over the last two years Peter has appeared as soloist with the BBC Symphony, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Ulster Orchestra, Thailand Philharmonic, Barcelona Wind Symphony, National Youth Brass Band and Lucerne Symphony Orchestras at major venues including L’Auditori Barcelona, the Barbican and Lucerne Concert Hall. Concert highlights have included recitals at Wigmore Hall (as soloist and with Alison Balsom), Barbican and the Hay-on-Wye Festival. Further afield he has taken part in the BBC Proms in Melbourne Australia, the SliderAsia Festival in Hong Kong and given a recital and masterclass at the Kumho Art Hall Yonsei in Seoul. During the 2017/18 season Peter undertakes tours of China and Colombia, gives recitals at Wigmore Hall and Bridgewater Hall and performs Takemitsu’s Fantasma Cantos II with BBC National Orchestra of Wales. He makes his debut in the US at the Spoleto Festival, and premieres a new work by Jack White commissioned by London Music Masters in collaboration with YCAT. Future engagements include the UK premiere of James MacMillan’s Trombone Concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican. Since winning BBC Young Musician, Peter has performed widely in Europe appearing as soloist with the Polish Chamber Orchestra at the Rheingau and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festivals in Germany, and at the European trombone festival The Slide Factory in Rotterdam. He has given recitals at major venues and festival throughout the UK and toured extensively in Australia and New Zealand. In 2010 his recording of the Gregson Concerto with the BBC Concert Orchestra was released by Chandos to critical acclaim. Passionate about pushing the boundaries of the trombone and bringing it to a wider audience, in 2015 Peter was appointed an Ambassador for the BBC Ten Pieces project which introduces children of primary and secondary age to classical music. He was mentored by Alison Balsom as part of the Royal Philharmonic Society/YCAT Philip Langridge Mentoring Scheme. Peter studied with Philip Goodwin at Chetham’s School of Music, and with Ian Bousfield. He is a visiting professor at the Royal Academy of Music and was selected for representation by Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT) in 2014. In 2013 he won the Wind Section of the Royal Over-Seas League Competition. Peter is a Yamaha International Artist .
