Golden Legacy Illustrated History Magazine Collection Over 25 million copies of Golden Legacy comic books have been sold. The Fulton County Schools Archives preserves 28 cop- ies, representing 9 different editions of the 16 that were produced. This collection was originally kept in the library of East Point Elementary School—a school that was closed in 1980. * Volume 1: The Saga of Toussaint L’Overture and the Birth of Haiti (1966), “Architect of the fight for independence of the country known today as Haiti, the western hemisphere’s first independent black nation.” Volume 2: The Saga of Harriet Tubman: The Moses of Her People (1967) “One of the great women in history, born in slavery – she led over 300 black men and women to freedom.” Volume 3: Crispus Attucks and the Minutemen (1967), “This big man who seemed to come from nowhere was ready and willing to fight for America and her independence.” Volume 4: The Life of Benjamin Banneker (1968), Farmer, surveyor, naturalist and scientist; the Ful- ton County School System honors him with the naming of a high school in College Park. Volume 5: The Life of Matthew Henson (1969), “Born in Charles County, Maryland three years after the Emancipation Proclamation, Henson would become the first man to reach the North Pole.” Volume 7 & 8: Frederick Douglas (1969-70), “He rose against formidable odds to become the great- est spokesman for the rights of black people.” Volume 6: Alexander Dumas and Family (1968), “Alexander Dumas became one of the world’s greatest writers.” His works include The Three Mus- CLICK ON EACH IMAGE TO EN- keteers, The Count of Monte Cristo and The Man in LARGE. the Iron Mask.
