FOUR VIDYADHARA LEVELS OF DZOGCHEN Vidyadhara (Tib. rig pa ’dzin pa). A “holder of knowledge” who has ascertained the nature of pristine awareness. Nyingma tantras describe four levels of vidyadhara. In ascending order of realization, they are the matured vidyadhara, the vidyadhara with mastery over life, the mahamudra vidyadhara, and the spontaneously actualized vidyadhara. LEVEL VISION CORRELATION TO THE BODHISATTVA GROUNDS Due to the noble qualities of the Vision of Direct Perception, may 1. Matured vidyadhara Direct perception of ultimate reality we experience the benefits of the sublime Very Joyful [first] Stage (Tib. rnam smin rig 'dzin) and the ground and path of a matured vidyadhara. By the power of Progress in Meditative Experience, may we cross 2. Vidyadhara with power over life over to the fifth stage known as Difficult to Cultivate, and may we Progress in meditative experience (Tib. tshe dbang rig 'dzin) attain all the noble qualities of the ground and path of a vidyadhara with power over life. Due to the virtues of Reaching Consummate Awareness, may we 3. Mahamudra vidyadhara cross over to the eighth stage known as the Immovable, and may Reaching consummate awareness (Tib. phyag chen rig 'dzin) we attain all the noble qualities of the ground and path of a mahamudra vidyadhara. By the power of the intellect-transcending Extinction into Ultimate 4. Spontaneously actualized vidyadhara Reality, may we cross over to the great tenth ground known as the Extinction into ultimate reality (Tib. lhun grub rig 'dzin) Cloud of Dharma, and may we swiftly attain the noble qualities of the ground and path of a spontaneously actualized vidyadhara..
