Kidpower presented sensitive information kindly and positively. 2015 Kidpower workshop attendee About Kidpower workshops All Kidpower workshops give children the opportunity to practice skills through carefully structured activities and role plays using realistic, nonthreatening scenarios. These include situations with peers and adults, both strangers and people they know. Each workshop also recognizes the primacy of parents and educators as students’ most important and influential teachers. Children and teens learn: • to recognize and avoid potential danger; • to be safe with technology; • to walk, stand and move with awareness and • to deal with bullies and peer pressure and to confidence; avoid bullying others; • to deal with emotional coercion, intimidation • to use their voices and their bodies to and bribery; stay safe; • how and when to set clear, strong boundaries • to tell an adult if they feel unsafe and to with people they know and strangers; persist until they get the help they need. • to tell an adult if someone talks about having a weapon or threatens to harm another person; The level of care and attention the instructors give to each child ensures they not only have a great time but they actually learn and understand. 2015 Kidpower workshop attendee Kidpower by the numbers In the last program year (September 2015 through 2,493 INDIVIDUALS TRAINED June 2016): 65% of all students received needed financial 1,326 1,167 assistance through grants and donations CHILDREN & TEENS ADULTS & CAREGIVERS 57% in community programs experienced 1,117 in 833 in previous bullying, abuse or assault Colorado Springs Colorado Springs 396 people were surveyed regarding the quality of 209 in Metro Denver 334 in Metro Denver our school programs: More than 46,100 trained since 1994 99.7% agreed the workshop was very useful for their children and increased their children’s level of awareness and understanding about interpersonal safety 100% agreed their children have learned Kidpower skills that are applicable in real life situations 99.1% agreed they have learned new ways to talk to their children about interpersonal safety 100% agreed the instructors were knowledgeable about safety education and taught the workshop in a clear and enthusiastic manner and would recommend Kidpower to other families 57 SCHOOL/AGENCY PROGRAMS (12 in Metro Denver) 13 COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAMS 5 SPECIAL NEEDS PROGRAMS This program removes shame and 10 empowers kids to be courageous.
