Subject : Confirmation of the application for the admission of the Rwandese State to membership in the United Nations Sir, In my letter of 27 June 1962 I had the honour to apply for the admission of the Rwandese State to membership in the United Nations. Today, 1 July 1962, the date on which the independence of Rwanda is effective, I wish to confirm the above-mentioned application, which was submitted on behalf of the Government of the Republic, and to reiterate to you that Government©s ardent wish that the Rwandese State should become a Member of the United Nations as quickly as possible. The Government of the Republic of Rwanda hereby solemnly declares once again that it accepts without reservation the obligations contained in the United Nations Charter, that it is able to carry them out and that it undertakes to abide by them conscientiously and loyally.
