13 August 2020 Dear Parents/Carers I hope you are enjoying the summer holidays and continuing to stay safe and well. From September, Lancashire County Council will run the transport to Southlands High School. The 793 service will replace the previous 401 service. The contract is to operate a 49 seat vehicle. COST OF JOURNEY If the child's journey is over 3 miles the return fare is £4.10 – this will apply to all stops before Euxton - Balshaw Lane where the fare changes to £3 return. These fares are set by LCC. Whilst LCC do accept walk-up fare payers on school bus services, they can only guarantee a seat on the bus for those pupils who have a statutory travel pass or buy a season ticket; so we would advise that applying for a season ticket is the best option. Parents/carers can save up to 20% on the yearly cost of paying the daily fare by purchasing a season ticket. Applications for season ticket can be made via www.lancashire.gov.uk/schools or the School Transport Hotline: 0300 123 6738 Please note - This service will replace the minibus. For any direct enquiries related to the route, specific bus stops please contact LCC transport directly. www.lancashire.gov.uk/schools or the School Transport Hotline: 0300 123 6738 Southlands High School will no longer be involved in any collection of payments for buses. For any remaining enquiries please feel free to contact me at [email protected] and I will continue to ensure we seek resolutions to any transport issues. Sincerely, Kerry Millar Headteacher .
