Wednesday, April 8, 2015 Fly & drive in Mendoza - Argentina Day 1: Arrival at the airport. Pick up rental car. Our team welcomes you with open arms to Argentina and will give you directions to your hotel. Talk to our account executive for the best places to visit along the way, depending on the airport in which you arrive. Overnight in a 4-star hotel in Mendoza. Day 2: A tour of Mendoza, located at the foothills of the Andes, is scheduled today. We suggest you check out the old part of the city, where it was originally founded: la Alameda, Microcentro, Barrio Civico, and the General San Martin Park where you find La Gloria Hill, the sports stadium “Estadio Malvinas Argentinas”, and the Frank Romero Day Amphitheater (site of the National Wine Harvest Festival). The afternoon destination is Lujan de Cuyo, where you will spend the night, and the route you will follow is National Highway 40 to Provincial Highway 60. You should stop at the town of Carrodilla to visit the church, Our Lady of Carrodilla, the patron saint of wineries. Another recommendation: check out any of the following vineyards: Zuccardi, Clos de Chacras, Lopez, and Trivento. Overnight and dinner at the Club Tapiz Hotel. Day 3: We suggest a day of adventure and outdoor fun in the Potrerillos Valley. The route takes you back the same way you arrived: Provincial Highway 60 to National Highway 40 (Lujan de Cuyo) and then Highway 7 to Potrerillos. Once there, you will find all the facilities you need: a bar, restaurant, bathrooms, changing rooms with showers, lockers, towel rental, and photography services for all the activities. You can engage in two of the following four activities: rafting, zipline, trekking, or mountain biking: one in the morning, then lunch (not included), and the second in the afternoon. Activities: Departures: every day. Depending on the activity, you need at least 2 or 4 people. Difficulty: Depending on the activity Minimum age: Depending on the activity Rafting If you love the rush of adrenaline and white waters, then climb aboard the raft and take to the rivers of the Andes. There are plenty of rapids to shoot while flowing downriver! Our expert guides steer the rafts, why the accompanying kayaks are there for any emergency. All participants wear life jackets (personal flotation device), neoprene suits and boots, waterproof jackets, and helmets. Trekking and rappelling You can learn a lot from trekking in the mountains, so lace up your hiking books and head out on the Andean foothills circuit that ends with a short rappel down the hillside next to a waterfall. Our guides will lead you down the best trails where you can see plenty of vegetation. Zipline (the newest attraction at Potrerillos Valley) Zipping through the air meters above the earth along a steel cable, hanging from a harness is an incredible adrenaline rush. Thrill to the zipping sound and feel the wind comb through your hair along the 6 sections of this 1500 meter (5000 ft.) long activity. You will hang some 40 meters (130 ft.) above the valley floor and Mendoza River and cross cables stretching farther than 450 meters (1500 ft.). Mountain biking Explore the foothills and valley on mountain bikes. There are guided rides for all levels of experience, from beginners to experts. Everyone will enjoy these trails. Overnight and dinner at Club Tapiz Hotel. Day 4: After breakfast, we suggest you start the drive to the Uco Valley where you will spend the night. There are plenty of vineyards to visit along the route: Lagarde – Norton – Dominio del Plata – Belasco de Baqueano – Andeluna. The route begins at the hotel along Highway 60 to Highway 40 (Lujan de Cuyo and the Uco Valley). Take the turnoff onto Highway 88 at Zapata heading towards Tupungato and then onto to Highway 89 to Tunuyán until you reach the Posada Saletein. Overnight and dinner at Posada Saletein. Day 5: From Posada Saletein, head out on Highway 89 to Highway 90 towards Tunuyán. Later, you will take National Highway 40 towards San Carlos. At Pareditas, turn off onto National Highway 143 to San Rafael. The city is located in the southern section of the Mendoza province, nestled between the Atuel River and the Diamante River, surrounded by mountains and valleys, and blessed with plenty of sun and lakes for an unforgettable vacation. The nearby attractions are many: Valle Grande, Atuel Canyon, and several manmade lakes: El Nihuil, Los Reyunos, El Tigre, Agua de Toro, and La Vieja Villa 25 de Mayo, at which you can enjoy the natural surroundings, peace, and quiet with your family. Leisure day. We suggest you tour the city. Overnight at a 4-star hotel in San Rafael.
