NOTE: Times are subject to change. Please be sure to check back for updates. Add to Calendar Friday, August 23, 2019 9:00am - 12:00pm Academic Testing For those who are interested in taking a credit exam for Mathematics and for those who need to take a placement exam for a foreign language in Chinese, Japanese, or Korean, First Year Advising offers testing during Welcome Weekend. There is no fee for taking a placement or credit exam. If you're interested in both the math credit exam AND the language placement exam, please fill out this form twice, indicating your availability to take the math credit exam at the alternative time: Tuesday, August 27 at 8:00 am. (Note: placement exams for foreign languages not listed here are available online throughout the summer.) Registration is done in advance online. If you have questions about whether you need to take an exam or need to register, please email First Year Advising. Location: DeBartolo Hall 9:00am - 3:00pm Irish1Card Production As a first year student, you should have received your Irish1Card when moving into your residence hall. 1/11 Location: Grace Hall, Room 423 9:00am - 3:00pm Fall Mall Stop by Stepan Center for a variety of items such as linens, hangers, futons, etc. from Bed Bath & Beyond and Carpet & Tile Depot. The Student Union Board’s Fall Mall offers convenience for those who may not be able to shop off-campus easily while moving into their new home under the dome. Fall Mall 2019 Hours: Friday, August 23: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday, August 24: 12 - 4 p.m. Sunday, August 25: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Location: Stepan Center 9:00am - 1:00pm Move In Welcome to the University of Notre Dame, Class of 2023! As you arrive, our Welcome Teams will greet you and your guests, assist you in the move-in process, and help introduce you to your new residence hall community. We hope you will experience the Notre Dame spirit of hospitality upon your arrival! Location: Undergraduate Residence Halls 11:30am - 1:30pm Campus Ministry Hot Dog Tent After a long morning of moving into your new residence hall home, you've definitely earned yourself a hot dog! Swing by the Campus Ministry Hot Dog Tent on South Quad to say hello to some of the friendly faces who will help you along your faith journey while a student at Notre Dame. Yes, just this once, there is such a thing as a free lunch. Location: South Quad 11:30am - 2:30pm Student Services Resource Fair 2/11 What's better than putting all of a student's available resources together in one location during your first day on campus? The Student Services Resource Fair in the Duncan Student Center does just that. Make sure to stop by to check out tables featuring a wide variety of offices and departments from across campus. Location: Dahnke Ballroom, Duncan Student Center 12:00pm - 2:30pm Getting COOL for School: Kona Ice & Photo Opps on the Quad Be on the lookout on South Quad for the Kona Ice stand and a chance to cool off with an icy treat and have your picture taken in front of the Dome by a photographer. Sponsored by the Sorin Society. Location: South Quad by the Flag Pole 1:30pm - 2:30pm What if I'm Not Catholic? Ever wonder what the Catholic Mass is all about? Trying to figure out how you can find your place at Notre Dame as a student from another faith background? Look no further than Campus Ministry's "What if I'm Not Catholic?". Our team of Campus Ministers will help connect you to faith resources at Notre Dame and in the South Bend community, and will help illuminate the ways we celebrate the Catholic faith throughout the year. The Official University Welcome will kick off your career as a Notre Dame student! Featured guests will include University President, Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., Vice President of Student Affairs, Erin Hoffmann Harding, Associate Provost, Dr. Hugh Page, the Student Body President and Vice President, the Notre Dame Combined Choirs, and the Notre Dame Marching Band. Location: Purcell Pavilion, Joyce Center 5:00pm - 8:00pm 3/11 Academic Advisor Sessions ☘️ This is an opportunity for all first year students and parents to meet with their assigned first year advisor in a group setting to learn more about academic expectations, First Year Advising, and the advising relationship. Information will be given about how to make changes to fall class schedules, the core curriculum, and other first year requirements. Individual times and locations will be assigned by advisor this summer. Students will be assigned a time block to meet with their advisor. Details are forthcoming. Location: Various Campus Locations 5:00pm - 8:00pm Welcome Cookout Grab a bite to eat with the Class of 2023 at the Welcome Cookout! Students and families will be assigned a meal time based on their First Year Advisor Session time. Location: Notre Dame Stadium, All Gates 8:30pm - 11:30pm Welcome Home Event with Rectors and Hall Staff ☘️ Ready for a proper welcome to your new residence hall community? The Welcome Home event will introduce you to your Rector, Hall Staff, and Welcome Team, with a night of fun events designed to help you get to know your fellow hallmates in a low-key environment! Location: Undergraduate Residence Halls Saturday, August 24, 2019 7:00am - 9:00am Dining Hall Breakfast Head to the dining hall for your first dining hall breakfast as a Notre Dame student. Breakfast will be served in the North and South Dining Halls. Be sure to bring your Irish1Card to swipe in! Location: North and South Dining Halls 7:00am - 8:00am 4/11 Wellness Run/Walk and Yoga Welcome Weekend is a fun and exciting time for students and families alike! To help you "take it all in," join McDonald Center for Student Well-Being and RecSports to start your weekend mornings by giving yourself a moment to reflect, relax, and recharge at your choice of two wellness events - yoga or a group walk. All are welcome - no previous experience is necessary and mats will be provided. See you bright and early at the Flagpole on South Quad! Location: Flagpole on South Quad 9:30am - 10:30am Moreau First-Year Experience Kick-Off ☘️ Let your collegiate academic experience begin! This mandatory event for all first-year students will provide an exciting window into the world of the Moreau First Year Experience - a course designed to aid students' transition to undergraduate life at Notre Dame. Featured speakers will include fellow students, administrators, and guest alums. Location: Purcell Pavilion, Joyce Center 11:00am - 12:00pm Moreau First-Year Experience Course ☘️ Break out into your individual Moreau First Year Experience section for your first class at Notre Dame! This mandatory event will introduce you to your course instructor, as well as the other students in your section in a classroom setting. Emails will be sent in August with the location of your class. You may also check this information within this app in the "Before You Arrive" section. Location: Campus Classrooms 11:30am - 1:30pm Dining Hall Lunch Head to the dining hall for your first dining hall lunch as a Notre Dame student. Swipe into the dining hall for lunch using your Irish1Card. Lunch will be served in the North and South Dining Halls. Location: North and South Dining Halls 5/11 1:30pm - 3:30pm Academic Exploration Sessions Academic Exploration Sessions will be hosted by the School of Architecture, the College of Arts and Letters, the Mendoza College of Business, the College of Engineering, the College of Science, and the Keough School for Global Affairs. Locations and times can be found here. Location: Listed by college/school 3:45pm - 5:00pm Class Photo ☘️ Join the entire class of 2023 for the first time to take a class photo. Location: Notre Dame Stadium 5:00pm - 7:30pm Dining Hall Dinner Grab dinner in the North and South Dining Halls with members of your residence hall before heading over to residence hall events. Again, you will need your Irish1Card to gain access to the dining hall. Location: North and South Dining Halls 5:30pm - 7:00pm Inclusive Voices for Excellence and Equity: Panel and Reception Diversity and inclusion are integral to Notre Dame's commitment to academic excellence. We value and honor the multiplicity of experiences, backgrounds, and identities our students bring with them to campus. This event provides an opportunity for members of our community who reflect the diversity of our student body to connect with allies, network, and learn about opportunities and resources available through various departments. There will be a 20-minute panel discussion featuring current students, followed by a reception for students and families to talk with current students, administrators, faculty and one another. Heavy hors d'oevres and refreshments provided. Location: Dahnke Ballroom, Duncan Student Center 6/11 7:30pm - 10:30pm Residence Hall Programming ☘️ An evening of fun events, important hall information, and bonding with your new fellow residents awaits! Hall Welcome Teams provide programming on both Saturday and Sunday evening, led by Captains and Ambassadors who have spent months thinking up exciting ways to welcome you to your new residence hall community! Location: Residence Halls 10:30pm - 1:00am DomerFest One of the can't-miss events of Welcome Weekend, Domerfest provides a carnival atmosphere of fun, games, food, inflatables, and music for all incoming students.
