cSAsad Season 5 Synopses – The Final Season Everything seemed to be going great at the end of last season on SAVING HOPE. Dr. Alex Reid (Erica Durance) and Dr. Maggie Lin (Julia Taylor Ross) had won the prestigious fellowship award and Dr. Charlie Harris (Michael Shanks) had solved his spirit problem. But celebrations were cut short by a vengeful Tom Crenshaw (Travis Milne, ROOKIE BLUE) who appeared at the Hope Zion Hospital Fellowship Awards and fired a shot at Alex and Charlie. The fifth and final season of SAVING HOPE sees the Hope Zion Hospital staff thrust into turmoil. As we pick up in the aftermath of the heart- stopping cliffhanger, the doctors of Hope Zion are in a state of self-doubt. As Alex grapples with her destiny and faces a big decision, her fellow doctors deal with new challenges as changes come to Hope Zion, including a new CEO, that will not only affect the livelihood of the hospital, but also its doctors and everything they hold dear. And Charlie, thinking his surgery had exorcised his spirits, realizes that the ghosts aren’t going away anytime soon. Synopsis: After the gunshot at the end of last season’s finale, Dr. Alex Reid (Erica Durance) searches for an injured Dr. Charlie Harris (Michael Shanks) in the following chaos, but instead comes across a caterer named Grace (Masa Lizdek, LOST GIRL) who was unknowingly also caught in the crossfire. At Hope Zion, Grace’s mother asks Alex for a priest, but the only person Alex can find is the pious interventional radiologist Dr. Manny Palmer (Jarod Joseph, ONCE UPON A TIME). Together, the two work quickly to try to save Grace’s life. As news of the shooting spreads, Dr. Dana Kinney (Wendy Crewson) arrives at the hospital to lend a hand but ends up consulting on a case with Dr. Cassie Williams (Kim Shaw) involving a male stripper instead. Focusing on work, Alex clashes with Dr. Maggie Lin (Julia Taylor Ross) over whether or not to include a car crash survivor in cSAsad their cancer study. Meanwhile, Dr. Dana Kinney’s (Wendy Crewson) resolve to recertify in Trauma is tested when Dr. Dawn Bell (Michelle Nolden) pushes her to treat an injured motorcyclist, and Charlie is called in to help with the surgery despite the fact he’s still recovering from the injury to his arm. For additional episode descriptions, visit www.BellMediaPR.ca cSAsad Character Descriptions Dr. Alex Reid – Played by Erica Durance Following yet another tragic event at the end of Season 4 when a vengeful Tom Crenshaw (Travis Milne, ROOKIE BLUE) appeared at the Hope Zion Hospital Fellowship Awards and fired a shot at Dr. Alex Reid and Dr. Charlie Harris (Michael Shanks), Alex grapples with whether her shared life with Charlie is cursed or meant to be, just in time for a sexy new doctor – Dr. Manny Palmer (Jarod Joseph, ONCE UPON A TIME) – to join the hospital’s ranks. Amidst all her uncertainty, Alex’s estranged mother returns to her life to make amends. Even more big changes are afoot when Alex makes a major discovery that will alter her relationship with Charlie forever. Can they finally work out their differences on their way to happily ever after or are they indeed cursed? Dr. Charlie Harris – Played by Michael Shanks Dr. Charlie Harris struggles to get back to work and back to normal following Tom Crenshaw’s (Travis Milne, ROOKIE BLUE) attack at the end of Season 4. Things go from bad to worse when his relationship with Dr. Alex Reid (Erica Durance) crumbles and he starts to lose control of the spirit world – finding it sometimes challenging to differentiate between the spirit world and reality – and the other doctors and board of directors start to notice. Can his mysterious new psychiatrist Dr. Amos Carver (Don McKellar, SENSITIVE SKIN) help him regain a grip on reality and get his personal and professional life back on track, or is he part of the problem? Dr. Dana Kinney – Played by Wendy Crewson Dr. Dana Kinney is no longer satisfied as a plastic surgeon, and is searching for a more meaningful application of her talent this season, leading her to essentially restart her career by recertifying as a trauma doctor. Her new gig comes with a steep learning curve and many new challenges, which she takes in stride, though she still feels cSAsad something may be missing. When she is offered a glamorous job that would take her out of the hospital completely, she must reconnect with herself and rediscover who she is and what she wants. Dr. Maggie Lin – Played by Julia Taylor Ross Dr. Maggie Lin continues to be unlucky in love in Season 5, watching her crush Dr. Zach Miller (Benjamin Ayres) thrive in a relationship with Dr. Dawn Bell (Michelle Nolden), and developing inappropriate feelings for one of her patients – causing her medical judgment to be questioned. Does Maggie consistently have a string of bad luck or could there be the true love waiting in the wings – that she’s been searching for all along? Dr. Dawn Bell – Played by Michelle Nolden Season 5 begins with Dr. Dawn Bell still leading the charge at Hope Zion Hospital, but a new CEO, with lots of new ideas on how the hospital should be run, clashes with Dawn’s leadership style and she is stripped from her title and back to fighting for the position that she has worked so hard for. Though her professional life is a battleground, Dawn’s personal life sails along as she and Dr. Zach Miller (Benjamin Ayres) get more and more serious as they build a life together. Dr. Shahir Hamza – Played by Huse Madhavji Dr. Shahir Hamza continues to push his emotional limits in Season 5, as he and his partner Jonathan Tutter (Christopher Jacot, SLASHER) decide on whether they are ready to take the first step in their relationship in pursuing the adoption of a child. The road to fatherhood is a rocky one, paved with false hopes and emotional setbacks that make Shahir question whether he is capable of being a good father and an excellent surgeon at the same time? cSAsad Dr. Zach Miller – Played by Benjamin Ayres Dr. Zach Miller has always been the master of his domain – the ER – but his professional purpose is called into serious question this season, as the new CEO – Thomas Leffering (Joe Dinicol, ARROW) – has plans to get rid of the emergency room in favour of a more cost-effect urgent care unit (basically a glorified walk-in clinic). Zach must fight for what he believes in, while also moving forward in his life with Dr. Dawn Bell (Michelle Nolden). Dr. Cassie Williams – Played by Kim Shaw Dr. Cassie Williams continues to be a shining star among the young residents at Hope Zion Hospital. The new CEO, Thomas Leffering (Joe Dinicol, ARROW), takes notice of her – though not just for her professional merits – and promotes her to Chief Resident. When that decision is called into question by the other residents at Hope Zion, Cassie works diligently to prove that she deserves the position in her own right, not just because a love struck CEO handed it to her. Dr. Dev Sekara – Played by Dejan Loyola Season 5 sees junior resident Dr. Dev Sekara still working in the shadow of his ex- girlfriend Dr. Cassie Williams (Kim Shaw). Things get even tougher for Dev when his former med school classmate and rival Dr. Billy Scott (Greg Calderone, HEROES REBORN) joins their ranks, and Dev must reconcile his difficult relationship with Billy and put the past in the past to work alongside him. Flanked by Cassie the over- achiever, and Billy the laidback jokester, can Dev carve his own path and make his mark at Hope Zion Hospital? Dr. Billy Scott – Played by Greg Calderone Brash, brazen, and bro-ish, Dr. Billy Scott makes a schtick out of everything.
