People with experience of mental illness often found discovering recreation of quality and meaning on a limited budget difficult. Signpost, a consumer run initiative that works with people experiencing mental health issues by way of advocacy, information, and community liaison work, took up the task of compiling this resource to be used as a stimulus to finding that recreation. While the confines of finding things for under five dollars was not easy, all involved in the project knew that with imagination and an appreciation of the free things life offers, quality experiences are possible. Now in its seventh edition copies may be found lying on coffee tables, in bookcases and drawers of people from all walks of life and it is still in demand. Thanks to Bendigo Trust, Community Trust of Otago and Dunedin Casino Charitable Trust for support in recognition of the project's worth to the wider community. For additional copies, contact Otago Mental Health Support Trust on the 3rd Floor, Queens Building, 109 Princes Street (03) 4772-598 [email protected] To all who choose to use our booklet, our best wishes in finding that something enjoyable to do without spending much.
