THE REPUBLIC OF UGANDA REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (CONSULTING SERVICES – FIRMS) WATER SUPPLY AND SANITATION PROGRAMME II CONSULTANCY SERVICES FOR ENGINEERING SUPERVISION OF CONSTRUCTION WORKS FOR SHUUKU-MASYORO PHASE-I AND KIKYENKYE-NYABUHIKYE PHASE-I GRAVITY FLOW SCHEME Project ID P-UG-E00-012 Loan No 2100150034694 The Government of Uganda has received financing from the African Development Bank towards the Water Supply and Sanitation Programme-Phase II and intends to use part of the loan to pay for consultancy services for engineering supervision of construction works for 2 gravity flow schemes in the rural areas of Sheema and Ibanda Districts in western Uganda. Services to be provided under this project include engineering supervision of works procured under two separate construction contracts; a) Shuuku-Masyoro Phase-I Gravity Flow Scheme in Sheema District b) Kikyenkye-Nyabuhikye Phase-I Gravity Flow Scheme in Ibanda District The combined summary scope of works under the above contracts includes; 1) Construction of 2 no. river and 3 no. spring intake works 2) Construction of 2 no. convetional water treatment plants. 3) Transmission and distribution mains totalling 180 km ranging OD 25-280mm. 4) Installation of storage tanks totalling 2,500 m3 capacity. 5) Installations of 3,000 consumer connections. 6) Construction of 10 public water borne sanitation facilities. The supervision services shall specifically entail administration of the construction contracts and ensuring that the contractual clauses with respect to both quality and quantity of works are adhered to and the works are constructed in accordance with the provisions of the construction contract. The services shall be required for a period of approximately 34 calendar months inclusive of a 12 months low intensity period of monitoring correction of defects. The Ministry of Water and Environment now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing these services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (profiles, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultants may constitute joint-ventures to enhance their chances of qualification. 1 Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the African Development Bank’s “Rules and Procedures for the Use of Consultants” May 2008 Edition, Revised July 2012 which is available on the Bank’s website at http://www.afdb.org.The Borrower is under no obligation to shortlist any Consultant who expresses interest.
