INTRODUCTION TO THE 2017 MORRIS COUNTY MANUAL Ann F. Grossi, Esq. County Clerk Welcome to the 2017 County Manual; published by the Morris County Clerk’s Office since 1906. Government officials and county residents extensively use the manual as a resource. Through State mandated fees, the Clerk’s Registration Division collected $59,067,580.72 by processing more than 92,000 transactions. The county’s share was $11,604,715.96, or approximately 1.26 tax points. This amount is deposited into the county’s general fund; thereby, lessening the need to raise those funds through your local property tax. The balance of $47,462,864.76 reverts to the state. The staff of the Clerk’s Office possess highly specialized skills and a high level of proficiency in many areas of concentration. In 2016, the staff serviced more than 14,600 visitors, answered countless telephone inquiries and assisted numerous residents through the “On the Road Program” that offers convenient access for obtaining Veteran ID Cards and Passports. During the 2016 General Election, the Election Division received and processed 26,614 Vote-by-Mail Applications; a 300% increase when compared to previous years. Also, 3,502 residents visited the office to vote in person. Moreover, the Passport Division has experienced an 88% increase in the number of passports processed. As always, my staff and I look forward to continue providing outstanding service to the public while maintaining our historical role of supporting the general financial health, tax stability and Triple A Bond Rating enjoyed by Morris County.
