Grades in AP ADMISSIONS SCHOOL PROFILE classes are weighted and add one more point per class to the students’ GPAs. Beechwood does not rank. The highest grade at Beechwood is A, but as a result of weighting for AP classes, some students earn a final cumulative GPA higher than 4.0. Non-GPA bearing classes include any high school class taken in 7th or 8th grade and Service Learning. ACADEMIC CALENDAR AND COURSE LOAD Beechwood operates on a traditional six period day. Semester grades are available for midyear reports; however, GPAs are calculated in June each year. Most students take six courses per year, although many juniors and seniors can fit two dual credit courses into one period, earning additional credits. ATHLETICS Over 75% of our students participate in at least one sport. Beechwood athletic teams compete at the Class A level in Region 9 of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) in the following sports.
