Falkirk Archives (Archon Code: GB558) FALKIRK ARCHIVES Local authority records Denny and Dunipace Burgh Finding Aid This finding aid contains lists of records of the various local authorities in and around the Burgh of Denny & Dunipace prior to 1975. It also includes local authorities for the Bonnybridge area. Denny & Dunipace was incorporated as a Police Burgh in 1877, acquired a town seal in 1892 and the Coat of Arms was matriculated in 1956. In 1975 Denny & Dunipace Burgh became part of Falkirk District under the Local Government Act of 1973. In 1975 Denny & Dunipace Town Council was abolished and the area became part of Falkirk District under the Local Government Act of 1973. The post ceased to exist with the abolition of Denny & Dunipace Town Council in 1975 and the functions were mainly transferred to the Chief Executive or to the Director of Law & Administration of Falkirk District Council. The notes relate to the proposal from the Burgh Police Commissioners to revise and extend the Burgh boundaries. A006.112/11 08 Jun 1888 Letter from Andrew Fraser concerning a census of those people living outside the existing boundary of the Burgh of Denny & Dunipace but inside the proposed extended boundary. This document relates to the proposal from the Burgh Police Commissioners to revise and extend the Burgh boundaries. A006.112/09 Jun 1888 Statement setting out the increase in population, works and dwelling houses in the Burgh of Denny & Dunipace over the previous ten years. The statement was to be lodged with the Court as part of the proposal from the Burgh Police Commissioners to revise and extend the Burgh boundaries. The front page contains a Parliamentary Notice about the Scottish Central Electric Power (Provisional Order). A006.038/03 05 May 1903 Letter to the Grangemouth Town Clerk, James Mackenzie, stating that Denny & Dunipace had decided to join with Grangemouth, Alloa and Bo'ness to oppose the Scottish Central Electric Power Order.
