Please see below the proposed agenda for the meeting: • Introductions / updates from Central Bedfordshire – new personnel etc. (We can clarify roles in the RSC office here too) • Academy conversions – how can we work better together? • 3 to 2 tier plan update • Legacy project update – impact on Houghton Regis Academy • SATs to MATs • Lawnside Lower School • 2017 KS2 headline data • Strategic School Improvement Fund • AOB Is there anything else you would like to add to this agenda? Could you also confirm who will attend from Central Bedfordshire? Will Cllr Steve Dixon and the new starter join us? (Apologies, I have forgotten your new member of staff’s name!) To confirm the attendees from our side – both Martin Post (RSC) and I will be there on Friday. Thanks in advance – looking forward to hearing from you soon. Please find attached the information that we discussed. We have shared this with the school and I would like to put on record my appreciation for how they have worked with us over the last few weeks in particular given the very sensitive and difficult conversations we have been having to have regarding the future of the school as we seek to find a solution that is in the best interests of children in the school and the wider area. As we have discussed and the attached shows, there is a surplus of places which according to our analysis is not going to recover in the near or medium term. This means that there is a viability issue for a school in the area with the biggest impact felt at Sandy Place. I am aware you are awaiting the formal publication of the Ofsted inspection before your report is finalised, but I hope this information is helpful based on our earlier conversation. As you will also be aware, offer day is the middle of April so this is a key date we are working towards in terms of having clarity over the future of the school and being able to best support the students there presently and those who have put it down as a preference for September. For note – the school in red on the final page is shown that way as it is a Bedford Borough School. I will be in touch further next week with Sue White to discuss further, Best Regards Leo LEO JONES Deputy Director, Education and Transformation Children’s Services Central Bedfordshire Council Watling House, High Street North, Dunstable, Bedfordshire, LU6 1LF Direct Dial: 0300 300 4218 | Internal: 74218 | Email: [email protected] From: Jacqueline Freeman <[email protected]> Sent: 27 March 2018 15:51 To: 'DAVIES, Sophy' <[email protected]> Subject: RE: Telephone call with Martin Post Hi Sophy The calendar invitation from Sue came in just after I sent my email to you.
