Once you turn off the national highway, the roads are narrow and not often in good condition with numerous potholes and large trucks – please take care and slow down. No low vehicles will manage on Mount Anderson’s access dirt road. ZAR 56,00 payable in cash, SA credit cards or car-hire E-tags only) – from here the route becomes the N4. • We suggest you stop off at ALZU PETROPORT should you need a comfort break (about 2 hours from Johannesburg – 35 kilometres from Middelburg). • After approximately 29 kilometres from AlZu, take Exit 190 off the national highway / R33 to Carolina/Belfast /Dullstroom. • Turn left to Belfast and pass through the town. • Towards the end of the main street, you will turn right on the R540 to Dullstroom / Highlands Meander (there is a Puma Garage on this corner). • Continue for 33 kilometres on the R540 to Dullstroom. Be careful on this road – large potholes and big trucks. • After passing through the village of Dullstroom, continue on R540 for approximately 50 kilometres to Mashishing (Lydenburg). • Turn left just before Mashishing (Lydenburg) and continue through the town. • PLEASE CONTACT MOUNT ANDERSON (MOBILE: 083 708 8460) TO LET THEM KNOW OF YOUR EXPECTED TIME OF ARRIVAL IN APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR. • Towards the end of the town, turn left at sign to Steelpoort/Burgersfort/Ohrigstad/ Hoedspruit/Pilgrims Rest. • At the 4th stop street, turn right to the R36 to Ohrigstad/Pilgrims Rest (Engen Garage on corner). • Continue on this road for 10 kilometres - passing the Lydenburg Smelter on the right and Die Kasteel (you will also see life siZe concrete animal statues on either side of the road). • Pass over the small Spekboom River bridge. • 100 metres from the bridge, you will see the MAWR logo sign on the right-hand side. This is the Mount Anderson access road – and you continue on a dirt road. No low vehicles will manage. • It is approximately 7 kilometres to the Mount Anderson Water Reserve gate. Once inside you will continue 2 kilometres to the reserve office where you will leave your vehicle and be transferred the further 5 kilometres to the lodge.
