NORTHAMPTONSHIRE SCHOOL GAMES RULES 2016 / 2017 KS2 INCLUSIVE: Goalball – Competition rules & guidelines Competition Qualification Level 3 School Games Summer Number of squads per SSP: 2 Competition Format Goal Ball Squad Information Minimum Squad Size: 3 Maximum Squad Size: 3 Year Groups Gender KS2 Inclusive ( Min 2 SEND pupils) Mixed – No Gender Ratios Set Equipment (Schools need to provide/take to competition) N/A Competition Rules Players: 1) All players must wear eyeshades 2) 3 players must be on the court at anyone time 3) Players with visual impairments can play alongside players with normal sight. Wheelchair users can block the ball with their chair and throw from their chair. The Game: 1) Players can move anywhere within their ‘Team Zone’ to throw the ball. 2) Underarm throwing / rolling only; no kicking. 3) When the ball is thrown it must land before the end of their ‘Team Zone’. 4) Goal (ball crosses the opponents line); game restarted by the team who conceded the goal 5) Block (defending team prevents a goal); game continues and defending team become the attacking team. 6) Ball thrown over the side line; game is restarted by the other team. 7) Block out (ball blocked but crosses the line); game restarted by the team which blocked the ball Infractions: Offending Team lose possession 1) Pass out – when in the process of passing the ball between team members, the ball crosses over the side line. 2) Ball over – the ball rebounds off a defending player and crosses the centre line. 3) Dead ball - the ball stops on the court without being touched by a defending player. Personal Penalty: Offending player has to face the next throw by themselves 1) Short ball – the ball crosses the centre line but stops before entering the defending team’s area. 2) High ball – the ball does not make contact with the court on or before the high ball line. 3) Illegal defence – a defending player has no part of their body within their team area when they make first contact with the ball. 4) Personal delay of game - a player must be on court, ready to play on the instruction of the referee. 5) Unsportsmanlike conduct 6) Noise – any excessive noise made by a player that prevents the defending team from hearing the ball. Team Penalties: The last player to throw the ball for the offending team has to face the next throw by themselves. 1) Team delay of game – a team must be on court, ready to play on the instruction of the referee. 2) Team unsportsmanlike conduct 3) Illegal coaching – no person in the team bench area is permitted to coach in any manner except during time-outs, substitutions or official stoppages in play, and only until the referee calls ‘quiet please’. 4) Noise – any excessive noise made by a player that prevents the defending team from hearing the ball. Scoring 1) Points are awarded for attacking (scoring a goal) a) A ‘Goal’ = 1 point A winning team 1) Team that scores the most points within a time limit e.g. 5 minutes First Aid & Emergency Procedures Schools are responsible for the provision and administration of their own First Aid. The Competition Organiser will brief all School Staff prior to the start of the competition, and will provide information about emergency procedures. Withdrawing from a Competition In the event your school has to withdraw from the Competition, you need to inform your School Sport Manager at your earliest convenience, ideally with a minimum of 48 hour’s notice. Head Teachers will be notified of schools withdrawing from the competition. Cancellation of a Competition In the unlikely event the competition has to be cancelled the Competition Organiser will contact schools at the earliest opportunity.
