church of jesus christ of latterlatterdayday saints has received significant emphasis from the leaders of the churchy so much so that it has been regarded by some as a new forceful program for the perfecting of the saints Howhoweverevert research reveals that the principles of priesthood correlation have always been a part of the restored church the purpose of this thesis is to write a history of the correlation program of the church of jesus christ of latterlatterdayday saints with particular emphasis on the period 1908 to february 1972 however before such a history could be written it was necessary to arrive at a working definition of correlation pertinent to the latterlatterdayday saint church program antone K romney long time executive secretary for the correlation committee of the churchchurchy defined it as the effective 111 dynamic operation of priesthood principles 6 to that should be added the proper function and relationship of the four priesthood programs genealogy missionary welfare and home education along with the auriliauxiliauxiliariesarlarii es to bring about the iantoneantone K romney principles goals and functions of priesth- ood correlation talk to complexity the problems of teachingtheteaching the gospel effectively to all of the people of the church has becomemorebecombecomeenoreemorenorenozemore and nordmordnoremoremoze of a challenge in 1938 president david 0 mckay who had responsibility both in courses of study and priesthood leadership development noted that in order to be effective some auxiliary organizations and educational institutions should be ordinatedcoordinatedco and as among the various organizations delimited as well as unified and standardized to avoid dyrliduplicationdy2licationcatlonand overlappingoverlappinspina and to provide the trainintraining which is required by the young people 2 for the purpose of this paper it seems expedient to give only a cursory account of priesthood correlation prior to the twentieth century several quotes will be utilized to help give the reader an understanding of the importance of correlation in the respective administrations of early church
