There were 25 people on the trip, including three veterans of the campaign, and they visited a variety of sites including memorials, cemeteries, landing beaches and museums. The group, which was based in Bayeux, was led by local historian Ian Ronayne, who gave Passing French visitors presented our the coach party a fascinating account of veterans with fresh flowers to lay at the the events which related to each of the memorial sites. Ten tables were kindly supplied by Haute Vallée School and the chess sets, boards, and clocks provided by the Club. The main tournaments were for seniors and the The giant chess set in West’s Centre is strongest juniors, which was won on tie popular with locals and tourists alike break by Graham Mooney, and the junior tournament which involved 13 players in junior and senior players to games and what is called a blitz event.
