Questions? Answered. Benefiting the Ryan O’Connell Scholarship Fund & the SRCS HSA Activities

Questions? Answered. benefiting the Ryan O’Connell Scholarship Fund & the SRCS HSA Activities I don’t play golf. Why would I come to a golf tournament? First and foremost, it’s for a great cause and a pretty painless way to raise money for your kids to have lots of things at school you might not realize that tuition doesn’t cover. And, it’s in memory of a great kid who meant a lot to SRCS and left a wonderful legacy of providing a scholarship so other children might have a chance to enjoy the amazing community at our school. If all that doesn’t convince you, it’s a chance to be outside with friends, food, drink, golf carts, and a chance at great prizes. Or, it’s a great excuse to use a vacation day from work. And, you can even win prizes for being the WORST golfer, so don’t let a lack of golf experience hold you back. What is the Lonnie Pool Golf Course at NC State University? What if I’m not a State fan? Designed by Arnold Palmer, this course was voted the best new public golf course in North Carolina in 2010, and one of the best new courses of 2010 by GolfWeek. Located near the Centennial Campus of NCSU, it’s in close proximity to the St. Raphael community and a great place to spend the day. Check it out at www.lonniepoolegolfcourse.com. And, if you’re not a State fan, here’s a chance to parade around in some other team’s colors while you flaunt your mad golf skills. Or mad golf cart driving skills. Why on a Monday? We know people have jobs. Some people even get paid for them. A weekday seems like a bad choice for a tournament day. But unless you’re hosting a big name golfing event that can out-perform a day when a course is open for its members or to the public, you’re not getting a weekend date. Look at is an excuse to extend your weekend. Or call it “work” and bring some colleagues with you. Think of it as a chance to step out of your normal, probably-awesome Monday routine, and do something different. Whatever works. What will I do with my younger kids that day who aren’t in school yet? Since duct tape isn’t the answer to everything, we recommend getting a sitter. And, to make it easy, we’ve arranged a great deal for SRCS golf tournament participants and volunteers! Right Time Kids on Oberlin Road (1028 Oberlin Road, Suite 242 | Raleigh, NC 27605 | 919.400.5561 -- close to the tournament location) has offered a reduced rate for their drop-in childcare if you register online by Friday, April 20, and put “[SRCS}” after your name on the registration form. You’ll get a $5/hour rate instead of their normal $9/hour fee. Kids can be dropped off as early as 8:00 AM. Visit http:// www.righttimekids.com/locations/nc_raleigh_oberlin/ for information, directions, and the link to register online. Questions? Answered. Shotgun start? I don’t have a gun permit. “Shotgun start” means we start a foursome at every hole at the same time (9:00 AM) so no one is waiting to get going, and we keep things moving. You might start at Hole 1 and finish at Hole 18, or you could start at Hole 4 and finish your round at Hole 3. Check-in will start at 7:30 AM, and you can hit some practice balls while waiting for the start at 9:00 AM. Can I really win a new car? Yep. We’ve been able to secure a brand new car as a prize if you get a hole-in-one on that particular hole. We’ll also have other games - like hitting a marshmallow off a tee, closest to the pin, longest drive, and much more. Even if you’re one of the worst golfers, we’ll have something for you (like lessons for another sport). Ladies, you can count on some great prizes for you this time, too. What are the “No Excuses” packages? I thought a Mulligan was a person without magical powers in Harry Potter. You won’t see them on the pro tour, but you can basically buy a “do-over” and some other passes to use in those weak moments on the course. Did a bird chirp in the middle of your swing? Use a mulligan for a do-over. Think you can toss the ball by hand better than that last drive? Use a grenade to take a throw. Men, think you can rip one off the pink ladies tee for a better shot? Have some pink lemonade to take that swing. Buy a package for $30 (men) or $25 (women) when you register to take advantage of a paid excuse. I could care less about playing golf, but I want to be a part of this. What can I do? We need volunteers to work the day of the event. Look for an online sign-up to do everything from driving the beverage cart to balancing marshmallows on the tee. You can also get sponsors, find items for our goodie bags, sell raffle tickets, and encourage others to play. Volunteers at the event might even score a limited edition Golf Tournament t-shirt this year. Why can’t I pay by credit or debit card? Every time we swipe a card, it’s added processing and added costs -- and less money for our kids from this fundraiser. When you register online at www.srcsgolf.com, we’ll reserve your spot and send you an invoice for payment. All checks should be made payable to “SRCS” and sent to the school office in an envelope marked as such. You can also use the registration form in the folded brochure to sign-up and take care of everything at once. Your $95 per golfer covers a great day, on an amazing course, with some wonderful people. We’re tossing in food and drink, plus a lot of great prizes, too. We guarantee you’ll have at least $95 worth of fun while raising money for the Ryan O’Connell Scholarship Fund and our school. I know how to use my smartphone for something more than playing Angry Birds. Can I use it to register right now? Please do. Use your QR code reader and fly on over to the registration page. What if I have other questions not listed here? You can always contact any member of the committee listed on the back of the folded brochure, check the school web page (updates coming soon), or email [email protected] for more information..
