In Progress Distribution of animal feed in Kalika VDC in progress. Planned Rice seed distribution in following VDCs for current main paddy season in 13 VDC. (Pangretar, Kalika, Ramche, Barahbise, Chokati, Jalbire, Nawalpur, Kiwil, Hagan, Pantang, Kunchow, Sangachok) PHASE Nepal 17.25mt rice distributed on May 22, 2015 at Jalbire VDC covering all the wards (690 bags of 25 kg/bag) covering Planned Planned to distribute food items to VDCs (Phulpingdanda, Kadambas and Jalbire) in addition to previous Phulpingkot and Hagam VDcs. Child Fund Japan Nepal Office (CFJ-NO), Document received Distributed total of rice 32mt, dal 5mt and salt 3mt for 3179 HH of 4 VDC (Petku, Tauthali, Pangretar and Dhuskun) covering all wards. The relief food package included rice 12kg, Dal 1.5 kg and salt 1kg per HH. Planned In the second lot the food items in the relief package will be increased rice 30kg, dal 4kg, salt 1 kg and oil 2kg for all 4 VDCs. The second distribution will start from June 2, 10, 11. Collective Campaign for Peace (Co-CAP), Document received Distributed food package for 1430 HH in 5 VDCs (Gorthali, Attarpu, Lisanku,Thulodhading and Pangtang), total of rice 36mt, dal 2.0mt, oil 1.2mt, salt 1.5mt and beaten rice 3mt. Local Initiatives for Biodiversity Research and Development (LI-BIRD) and Tuki Association Sunkoshi. Distributed total of 50mt rice for 2000 HHs of 3 VDCs (Chokati, Karthali and Marming), providing 25 kg /HH. Planning Second phase planning for distribution in all VDCs prioritizing 9 remote VDCs, HH coverage in coordination with cluster partners to avoid overlap. 2. Challenges i. Seeds of suitable rice varieties (Makawanpur-1 and Khumal-4) is not available, ii. VDC level households data: HH data is higher by about 20% compared to 2068 census, iii. Information on accessibility remained hazy particularly to the remote VDCs and within wards as well. 3. AOB Partner organization also raised the possibility of initiating cash for work relief strategy if possible provided available of appropriate guideline, DDRC’s decision and experience of other agencies in the district. For this, FSC needs field assessment information from respective agencies. 4. Decisions Made Maintain consistency as in the past; Reporting agency wide update in writing and send the updates through mail to Tara Lama ([email protected]) or DADO ([email protected]); DADO will ensure coordination to facilitate food security issues in the current crisis among the partners; Continue meeting days as usual on Monday and Friday (2 days per week) at 10:30 AM and is subjected to reschedule on next upcoming meeting based on the field situation if required; DADO office should explore source of seed at local level. Explore the status of cash transfer/grant with organizations concerned.
