SIGMA PI PHI FRATERNITY - REVISED RITUAL PART III CEREMONY AT THE BIER OF DEPARTED ARCHONS INSTRUCT IONS The Archons stand in a semi-circle before the bier of the departed Archon, with the Sire Archon in the center, the Grammateus and the Leading Archon to the right, and the Thesauristes, the Lecturing Archon and the Grapter to the left, in the order listed. SIRE ARCHON Grammateus, what is the hour? GRAMMATEUS This is the hour of destiny, Sire Archon. SIRE ARCHON Is Alpha Boule involved in the hour of destiny? GRAMMATEUS The passing of Archon Leroy M Christophe from here to eternity involves us, Sire Archon. SIRE ARCHON Are all present worthy to be here? LEADING ARCHON All present in this room are worthy, Sire Archon. SIRE ARCHON Why convene we here at this hour? GRAMMATEUS Because the circle of Alpha Boule is now incomplete. Archons, form the Mystic Circle. The Archons will form a circle. The Sire Archon and the Grammateus will take positions at the head and foot of the casket, resting right and left hands respectively on head and foot of the casket. (This symbolizes the last earthly circle Alpha Boule will form with the deceased Archon.) When the circle is formed, the Sire Archon speaks. SIRE ARCHON This it is that Alpha Boule forms the last Mystic Circle with our beloved Archon. After these words are spoken, the Sire Archon and the Grammateus will turn and face the circle of Archons to symbolize that the ranks of Alpha Boule are closed again. When this is done, the Sire Archon speaks. SIRE ARCHON The Mystic Circle is now broken and yet unbroken. ALL ARCHONS In the spirit of Sigma Pi Phi, Alpha Boule looks ahead. SIRE ARCHON Archons, give the sign of secrecy and depart. 3 SIGMA PI PHI FRATERNITY - REVISED RITUAL PART III CEREMONY AT THE BIER OF DEPARTED ARCHONS INSTRUCTIONS The Archons stand in a semi-circle before the bier of the departed Archon, with the Sire Archon in the center, the Grammateus and the Leading Archon to the right, and the Thesauristes, the Lecturing Archon and the Grapter to the left, in the order listed. LEADING ARCHON All present in this room are worthy, Sire Archon. SIRE ARCHON Why convene we here at this hour? GRAMMATEUS Because the circle of Alpha Boule is now incomplete. SIRE ARCHON Has the circle of Alpha Boule been broken? GRAMMATEUS Only the corporal circle, Sire Archon. The spiritual circle of which Archon Leroy Christophe was a segment is now and will forever remain unbroken. SIRE ARCHON So will it be. Now will the Lecturing Archon lead us in responsive reading? LECTURING ARCHON "The souls of the righteous are in the hands of God, and no torment shall touch them." ARCHONS RESPOND "In the eyes of the foolish they seemed to have died; and their departure was accounted to be a hurt." LECTURING ARCHON "And their journeying away from us to be their ruin; but they are at peace." ARCHONS RESPOND "So teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." LECTURING ARCHON "For all our days are passed away in Thy wrath. We spend our years as a tale that is told." ARCHONS RESPOND "For a thousand years in Thy sight will be as yesterday when it is past and as a watch in the night." LECTURING ARCHON Peace be unto Archon Christophe. ARCHONS RESPOND Peace be unto him. PRAYER BY ARCHON E. THEODORE JONES GRAMMATEU S Sire Archon, the hour for departing has come. 2 SIRE ARCHON So be it. Archons, form the Mystic Circle.
