OVERALL • Senior running back LaVance Anderson has complied 197 total rushing yards on the season, Pikeville 1-0 2-2 averaging 98.5 yards per game, ranking 15th nationally. Anderson also has four catches for Cumberlands (Ky.) 0-0 2-1 39 yards. Union 0-0 0-2 • Chandler Whittlesey’scareer as the man under center for the Bulldogs has been about Georgetown 0-0 0-3 consistency. Through the first two games, Whittlesey has threw for over 125 yards and Kentucky Christian 0-0 0-3 a touchdown in each game. He has also scampered for one rushing touchdown in each Bluefield 0-1 0-4 contest. • The Bulldogs receiving corps has shared the wealth this season as 10 different receivers have registered a catch. Kyle Keplinger has been the primary target, catching eight passes for 119 WEST yards and one touchdown. SCHOOL DIV. On Sept. 19, Averhart finished with a season- Bethel 0-0 1-2 high seven solo tackles against Campbellsville. Cumberland (Tenn.) 0-0 1-2 • Union is 6-for-8 inside the red zone with four rushing touchdowns and two passing Campbellsville 0-0 1-2 touchdowns. Two trips have resulted in interceptions. • Opponents have faired well versus Bulldogs in the red zone, going 9-for-9, while totalling 49 points. Bulldogs Hold Off No. 11 Union - 28 No. 11 Cumberlands - 27 Cumberlands for 28-27 Victory Union Cumberlands BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union College football team First Downs 20 20 christened the lights at Williamson Stadium at Burch/Nau Rushes-Yards (NET) 33-147 51-280 Field with a 28-27 upset victory over No. 11 University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) on Saturday in Mid-South Conference East Passing Yards (NET) 249 68 play. Fortunately for the Bulldogs, the ball bounced right into the 1st UNION-Jefferson 26-yd pass from Whittlesey arms of offensive lineman Andy Flynn for the touchdown. The PAT was no good, leaving it a six-point game with 12:41 to play. (Sigmon kick) On the ensuing drive, Cumberlands needed only six plays to CUMB-Maynard 1-yd run (Rose Kick) cover 49 yards in finding the end zone. Randy Maynard scored his CUMB-Deed 30-yd run (Rose Kick) second touchdown of the day with a 3-yard plunge. After the PAT, 2nd UNION-Whittlesey 7-yd run (Sigmon kick) the Patriots led 21-20 with 10:15 remaining. Late in the game, Cumberlands looked to be on its way to 4th UNION-Flynn 0-yd run(Sigmon kick no good) scoring some crucial insurance points. Starting on its own 27, CUMB-Maynard 3-yd run (Rose kick) Cumberlands moved the ball to the Union 30 thanks to a 23-yard UNION-Anderson 35-yd run (Conley pass) run by Maynard and 20-yard run by Ricardo Lyons. But on the CUMB-Lyons 6-yd run (Rozier run no good) next play, Tucker Lewis forced a Lyons fumble, and Union took over on its own 28.
