Preface Pathashree Abhiyan was launched on 1st October 2020 under the inspiration of Mamata Banerjee, honorable Chief Minister, Government of West Bengal. It was envisaged as a road repair and construction programme involving more than 12000 kms across the State in a mission mode. Roads that needed repair were identified under the Pathashree Abhiyan programme, taking information from multiple sources at the office of the honorable Chief Minister. With the initiatives taken by the government, roads having more than 14,000 Kms have been reconstructed in the interior and remotest parts of villages. The roads have been completed following the timelines providing great relief to people living in distant villages who could now see their wishes translated into reality. So far, more than 7300 rural roads have been completed under the aegis of four State Government Departments such as the Panchayats & Rural Development Department, Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Department, Public Works Department and Irrigation & Waterways Department. When many people have been losing their jobs, Pathashree Abhiyaan programme has provided employment to people living in rural parts of the state creating lakhs of man-days, in the aftermath of the COVID pandemic. 1 DISTRICT WISE PATHASHREE REPORT OF COMPLETED ROADS AS ON 11.02.2021 P&RD UD&MA PWD I&WR Grand Total Total Total Total Total Total Total Total Sl Total No. length of Name of District No. length of No. length No. length length No. No. of of road in of road in of of road of of road of road road road K.M road K.M road in K.M road in K.M in K.M 1 ALIPURDUAR 176 599.35 10 5.71 186 605.05 2 BANKURA 433 1405.11 1 0.90 434 1406.01 3 BIRBHUM 234 804.49 7 7.20 6 17.90 247 829.59 4 COOCH BEHAR 137 454.50 137 454.50 5 DAKSHIN DINAJPUR 265 624.84 15 19.80 280 644.64 6 DARJEELING 85 374.92 12 22.80 97 397.72 Mission Statement: 7 HOOGHLY 747 842.25 2 2.60 1 0.90 750 845.75 443 628.10 7 7.32 4 4.20 454 639.62 Ensure Repairing and Construction of all-weather roads even in the remotest villages of West Bengal. 8 HOWRAH 9 JALPAIGURI 124 428.82 124 428.82 10 JHARGRAM 116 477.86 116 477.86 Achievement: 11 KALIMPONG 8 30.33 3 5.50 11 35.83 12 MALDA 252 559.85 2 1.80 254 561.65 • A total of 17,333.86 km road length taken up against the target of 12,557.02 km.
