Tonight, as we celebrate the twenty second anniversary of Asian American Business Development Center and the fifteenth anniversary of the Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Award Gala, the award recipients will join the ranks of almost 700 high achieving individuals who have been honored at this prestigious event since 2001. They represent a microcosm of the best of Asian American entrepreneurship and professionalism, with a pool of diverse and multi-talented individuals engaged in a wide range of business interests. The depth and breadth of their business undertak- ings clearly demonstrate that Asian Americans are an integral part of the larger economy. Asian American entrepreneurs have multilingual and multicultural backgrounds that make them ideally suited to help- ing the U.S. stay competitive in the global economy. Mr. Spector joined The Conference Board after serving as vice dean of The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He was responsible during his tenure for the significant growth and strategic repositioning of the school’s executive education activities, and for strengthening Wharton’s involvement in book publishing, globalization, and collaborations across the university. Mr. Spector began his career at McKinsey & Company, where he spent 20 years and was elected a senior partner. He founded and managed the firm’s Taipei office, and helped lead McKinsey’s North American electronics practice. He subsequently served as the chief executive of two startup technology companies. Mr. Spector is the co-author of We Are Smarter Than Me (2007), which highlights the ways in which businesses can harness the power of collective intelligence. She helps business professionals improve their image, messaging, and personal branding. She coaches executives to reach their full potential by using a proven step-by-step program to sharpen presentation, interview, and communication skills. Representative clients include professionals at Morgan Stanley, Thomson Reuters, Pfizer, and multiple prominent New York based hedge funds. Prior to starting her own business, Ms. Koraca was a Financial TV News Anchor for Reuters. She has interviewed hundreds of the world’s top CEOs and investors, such as Blackstone’s Stephen Schwarzman, Jim Rogers, and Wilbur Ross. She launched the Reuters/CCTV Singapore bureau where she trained and coached text reporters to develop and improve their on-air skills for daily live reports on Asian markets. In addition to her experience at Reuters, Ms. Koraca worked in television news at NBC, NY1, BronxNet and PBS. Ms. Koraca holds a leadership position with The Newswomen’s Club of New York as a board member for the Front Page Awards for journalistic excellence, where she is the Executive Producer. At RESTORE NYC, she teaches human trafficking survivors economic and financial independence through the Eco- nomic Empowerment Program. She is also an Executive Mentor to the Director of Regional Strategy at Pfizer through the AABDC’s Business Mentorship Network program. Ms. Koraca received her Bachelor of Arts from Saint Mary’s University. Thai Lee has been the majority shareholder, President and CEO of SHI Inter- national Corp (SHI) since 1989. With projected 2016 revenue of $7.5 billion, SHI is one of the largest privately owned technology companies in North America. Under her leadership, SHI transformed from a $1 million “soft- ware-only” regional reseller into a global provider of information technology products and services. Over the past 26 years, SHI achieved its growth 100% organically, without merger or acquisition, and without taking on a debt. SHI provides IT procurement, IT deployment, asset management and cloud computing solutions to tens of thousands of organizations around the world. Ms. Lee, born in Thailand to Korean parents, grew up in several countries including Thailand, Germany, Korea and U.S. In 1980, Ms. Lee graduated from Amherst College, majoring in Biology and Economics. In 1983, she became the first Korean-American woman to enter Harvard Business School and received her MBA degree in 1985. Ms. Lee has served on the Board of Amherst College as well as President of Amherst College Alumni Society. She currently serves on the Dean of Advisory Board for Harvard Business School and committees for Harvard University. Ms. Lee received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in the technology category in 2012, Distinguished Alumni Award from Harvard Business School in 2013, and Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Amherst College in 2014. 17 PINNACLE AWARD Lisa Su President and Chief Executive Officer • AMD Dr. Lisa Su is AMD’s president and chief executive officer and also serves on the company’s board of directors. Previously, she was chief operating officer responsible for integrating AMD’s business units, sales, global operations and infrastructure enablement teams into a single market-facing organization responsible for all aspects of product strategy and execution. Dr. Su joined AMD in January 2012 as senior vice president and general manager, global business units and was respon- sible for driving end-to-end business execution of AMD’s products and solutions. Prior to joining AMD, Dr. Su served as senior vice president and general manager, Networking and Multimedia at Freescale Semiconductor, Inc., and was responsible for global strategy, marketing and engineering for the company’s embedded com- munications and applications processor business. Dr. Su joined Freescale in 2007 as chief technology officer, where she led the company’s technology roadmap and research and development efforts. Dr. Su spent the previous 13 years at IBM in various engineering and business leadership positions, including vice president of the Semiconductor Research and Development Center responsible for the strategic direction of IBM’s silicon technologies, joint development alliances and semicon- ductor R&D operations. Prior to IBM, she was a member of the technical staff at Texas Instruments in the Semiconductor Process and Device Center (SPDC). Dr. Su has bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She has published more than 40 technical articles and was named a Fellow of the Institute
