October 1, 2014 The Pingry School 2015 Spring Program to France – 13 Days Itinerary Sunday, March 8 Departure from the USA. Monday, March 9 NICE Arrival and welcome in France. Afternoon to see the picturesque town of Mougins; then visit of the old city of Grasse and a parfumerie. Dinner and hotel in Nice. Tuesday, March 10 NICE Spend the morning visiting la vieille ville of Nice, with a stop to see the city’s famous flower market. Afternoon visit of St Paul de Vence, including the Chapelle du Rosaire decorated by Matisse. Dinner in Nice followed by a stroll on the Promenade des Anglais. Hotel in Nice. Wednesday, March 11 NICE Spend the day visiting the surrounding area, including the hill village of Biot, and then Saint Tropez, “the Jewel of the Riviera.” Dinner provided by VIE. Hotel in Nice. Thursday, March 12 AIX-EN- Head to Provence to visit les Baux-de-Provence, and Arles, as PROVENCE time permits, before returning to the Aix-en-Provence area to begin the family stay in the late afternoon. Most students find that this is the best part of their experience Friday, March 13 in France. Each student is placed in a family with a son or Saturday, March 14 FAMILY STAY daughter of approximately the same age and similar interests. Sunday, March 15 Students will learn more about French culture and improve Monday, March 16 their French. Most American students will have the chance to visit a French school Tuesday, March 17 PARIS Say au revoir to your French family. Board the TGV for Paris. Meet your guide at the Gare de Lyon for the bus transfer to your Paris hotel. Begin your visit of Paris in Ile-de-la-Cité where you will visit Notre Dame Cathedral, with a trip to the top of the towers, reservations permitting. Then enjoy dinner at “58 Tour Eiffel,” the restaurant on the first level of the Eiffel Tower. Hotel in Paris. Wednesday, March 18 PARIS Start your morning with a guided visit of the Musée d’Orsay. Next, catch the métro to the Place de la Bastille and walk to Place des Vosges. Continue on the rue des Francs Bourgeois. Lunch on your own in the Marais. Montmartre awaits you this afternoon. Take in all of Paris from the steps of the Sacré- Cœur, before visiting the basilica. Watch the portraitists of the Place du Tertre as they work. Dinner on the Champs-Elysées provided by VIE. Evening stroll on the Avenue des Champs- Elysées. Hotel in Paris. Thursday, March 19 PARIS A guided tour of The Louvre, home to one of the world’s finest art collections, is your first visit of the day. After lunch on your own in the food court, head for the Galeries Lafayette for some shopping time. Dinner provided by VIE in the Quartier Latin. Spend your last evening in Paris enjoying the sights and sounds of this famous riverside quarter. Hotel in Paris. Friday, March 20 PARIS - USA Transfer to the airport for return flight to the USA. .
