Miss Janice LAI of the TD presented the paper. 5. 11 Members raised the views and enquiries as follows: 5.1 Suggesting that Route No. 95 expand the catchment area by extending to Shun On Road and Lee On Road; 5.2 Welcoming that more buses would run on Route Nos. 290 and 290A, and suggesting that a bus stop be installed at a spot between Shun Lee Estate and Shun On Estate; 5.3 Requesting Route No. 14D to provide whole-day service; 5.4 Enquiring about the schedule for the opening of Route No. 213X; 5.5 Expressing hope that the bus companies could give serious thought to the creation of an airport bus route serving surrounding areas of Chun Wah Road and Hip Wo Street; 5.6 Requesting for interchange concessions for Route No. 2X, and not to reduce 4 service frequency on Route No. 2A even if more buses would run on Route No. 2X; 5.7 Opposing to extend Route No. 14B to Lok Wah Estate; 5.8 Urging to ensure that existing service needs would be met after the merge of Route Nos. 621 and 641, and suggesting that more interchange services be arranged for bus routes such as Route Nos. 601 and 603, in addition to providing estimated bus arrival time information; 5.9 Suggesting that service frequency be increased on Route No. 2X during peak hours; 5.10 Suggesting that Route No. 9 be extended to Choi Ying Estate, Choi Tak Estate and Choi Fook Estate (the Sam Choi area) while keeping the service to Choi Hung Road intact, and along the route the number of bus stops be cut to allow buses to save some time to offset the additional travel time due to route extension; at the same time opposing to relocating Route No. 9’s terminus from Tsim Sha Tsui Ferry Pier to Tsim Sha Tsui East; 5.11 Requesting to advance the implementation of the plan to extend Route Nos. 6P and 88X to Yau Tong, and two bus services regarding Route No. 6P running from Yau Tong to Tsuen Wan West, as well as another route from Yau Tong to So Uk; 5.12 Suggesting that the new bus route from Yau Tong to Tsuen Wan West be in service seven days a week instead of five days a week from Monday to Friday, while extended daily service hours be adopted so as to operate from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.; 5.13 Suggesting that section fares be provided for the new Route No. 6P running between Yau Tong and Cheung Sha Wan; 5.14 Opposing frequency reduction on Route No. 14B and expressing the views that the problem did not lie in the lack of demand for the service of the bus route but infrequent bus trips and loss of bus trips, and this explained why local residents preferred minibus services to Route No. 14B; 5.15 Expressing the views that the proposed changes to Route No. 88X, which went against the original objectives of creating the bus route and were to the disadvantage of Lam Tin residents, would mean a longer journey to the New Territories for passengers living in Lam Tin and the surrounding areas, and inviting the bus company to reconsider the changes; 5.16 Expressing the views that it was not an ideal arrangement to turn Route No. 88X into a circular route, and instead terminus should be set up at both ends of the route; 5.17 Requesting that interchange concession for Route No. 277X should also apply to passengers travelling on Route No. 277E; 5 5.18 Enquiring about how the problem regarding loss of trips could be mitigated and expressing the views that the problem, if properly dealt with, would go a long way towards addressing low service demand; 5.19 Proposing that Route No. 88X could run A/B routes as what Route No. 14D was doing now; 5.20 Proposing that, amid population growth in Yau Tong due to development in the area, consideration be given to introduce an airport bus route serving Yau Tong and Pik Wan Road, in view of the fact that over the years requests for an airport bus route to serve Pik Wan Road and the surrounding areas had been stonewalled; 5.21 Expressing the views that to deal with the shortage of public transport serving Pik Wan Road, consideration could be given to introducing new bus routes, including the newly introduced bus route running from Yau Tong to Tsuen Wan West, to cover Pik Wan Road; 5.22 Expressing the views that frequency of Route No.
