SAMPLE ITINERARY FOR SAN DIEGO STATE UNIVERSITY, HHS - FLORENCE March 24 – April 1, 2018 The following itinerary is just a suggestion as to the order of events and cannot be confirmed at this stage. After discussion with the group leaders this can be rearranged. Note that if the group is over 25 people we may have to split them into two sections for the visits. Sat, March 24 AM: Arrive in Florence and meet AIFS staff at the airport for the transfer at the pre arranged time to the accommodation PM: Orientation with AIFS Staff Sun, March 25 AM: Walking tour of the historical center of Florence with a professional English-speaking guide. Students will see the Palazzo Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria and the famous Ponte Vecchio PM: Free time. AIFS staff will advise on local activities. Eve: Welcome dinner Mon, March 26 AM: Overview of the Italian Health Care System by a local doctor (1) PM: Visit to a public hospital and discussion (2) Tues, March 27 AM: Visit to a rehabilitation center for people suffering mental health issues and addiction problems (3) PM: Guided tour of the Uffizi Wed, March 28 AM: Visit to the National Soccer Technical Center in Coverciano and a tour (4) Lunch at the center PM: Meeting with the Italian national team doctor and the team chef (5) Thurs, March 29 AM: Visit to a center for seniors to talk to residents and staff (6) PM: Free afternoon to explore Florence Eve: Traditional cooking class Fri, March 30 (Good Friday) AM: A visit to the migrant center to meet with the on-staff psychologist (7) PM: Tour of San Salvi – a former asylum (8) Sat, March 31 A full day excursion to Siena, the home of the Palio horse race, and San Gimignano by private bus. There will be a guided tour in Siena and then free time to explore the medieval town of San Gimignano. Eve: Farewell group dinner Sun, April 1 (Easter Sunday) End of program. Transfer to the airport.
