Kyle Clark Hip-Hop Kyle “JustSole” Clark is a native of Baltimore, MD. He moved to Philadelphia in 2002 in pursuit of a professional dance career. Kyle attended the University of the Arts from 2002-2006. In 2003, Kyle joined Philadanco’s D2 under the direction of Donald Lunsford II until 2004. From there Kyle was selected to be in Eleone Dance Theater Company as principal dancer from 2004 -2010. Shortly after graduating from UArts in 2006, Kyle was selected by world renowned Hip Hop Theater Company, Rennie Harris Puremovement. Kyle was a principal dancer from 2006- 2015. In 2010, he was promoted to Rehearsal Director for RHPM and served in that role until 2015. Kyle has performed, taught, and competed internationally in countries such as France, U.K., Amsterdam, Russia, Mexico, Nigeria, Egypt, Israel, Palestine, Kyrgyz Republic, and Kazakhstan. He also served as a U.S. Cultural Ambassador for Hip Hop 3 times via DanceMotionUSA and Next Level Programs. His battle wins include: The Abyss 2012 (D.C.), Freestyle Session/SOTI 2013 (Philly), Juste Debout USA 2014 (NYC), Bust-A-Move 2014 (Montreal), Slick City 2 (Chicago). He has also judged battles nationally and internationally including 2 appearances on “House Dance Forever” in 2015 & 2016. Kyle has also choreographed “Street Dance Theater” works for dance companies such as Ailey II, Eleone Dance Theater, JUNK, upon many others. Kyle being passionate about the history, culture, and articulation of Hip-Hop dance, co-founded “ Funky Sole Fundamentals”w/ Dinita Clark in April 2011. It’s a dance workshop series dedicated to the preservation of Hip-Hop, House, and Funk Styles. Also in 2011, he co-founded Just Sole! Street Dance Theater Company where he serves as Choreographer and Artistic Director. In 2016, Kyle was awarded a grant by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage for his physical autobiography entitled “The Life Of A Just Sole”. In 2017, The University Of The Arts awarded Kyle“The President’s Distinguished Teaching Award”for his teaching excellence. In 2019, Kyle choreographed the “You Got It” music video for Philly Music Legend “QuestLove”. Kyle is currently a professor at the University of the Arts, Temple University, and Swarthmore College..
