Stalwart industrialists such as Mr. Ranjit Puri and Mr. Sham Sardana were initial Presidents of this Chamber. Most other Associations in existence at that time had Presidents continuing for years together. We founders felt otherwise. We believed that leadership should change every year and office bearers with fresh enthusiasm, new ideas and deadlines to implement the said ideas, be inducted. This philosophy has worked extremely well and our chamber has had excellent past leadership, who today are its backbone. Some of our members belong to diverse manufacturing disciplines such as heavy and light engineering, paper, sugar, distillery, hydraulics, auto components, metal products, plywood products etc. Our members in trade include dealers of automobiles, machined parts, petroleum products etc. and other members provide services in the field of hospitality, technical & professional education, chartered accountancy etc. Most of our units are certified ISO 9001 for Quality Management Systems. Quite a few of our members have got ISO 14001 for Environmental Management Systems and also specialized certification such as OSHA, CE Marking and ASME for quality standards and safety. Others have received industry specific certifications as well. Some of us have also won awards for safety from the National Safety Council, for export excellence from both the Export Promotion Council and State Governments in addition to other industry specific awards. We have members who are front runners in their field and also those who have manufacturing units, offices and distributors in various parts for the country and even abroad. Over the years, our Chamber has been nominated to various regional/state committees/councils of the government such as the Minimum Wage Committee and the EPF Regional Fund Committee. Some of our members, in their individual capacity, have been nominated to high powered committees for Haryana industry and to zonal/regional/state committees/councils set up by the Central Excise & Custom department (both Grievance & Recommendatory), Pollution department, Labour department District Administration etc. In addition, they have been elected Chairman of CII (Haryana State) & Member, CII (Northern Region Council) along with being a part of multiple industry delegations accompanying the different chief ministers of Haryana to foreign countries. Changes in policies of the government and amendments in law are shared with members. Guest speakers are frequently invited to talk on matters of interest to the members. The topics range from work related ones such as GST, electricity/solar and finance on one side and to personal or motivational such as health and inheritance on the other. We have distinguished members who have also given us the benefit of their expertise. Interactive sessions are held with government officials and aspirations of the citizens of our town are given voice through these meetings and representations. Another aspect which has become tradition in our chamber is that we have quite a few family dinners. It has helped us in making our meetings more enjoyable and the families also look forward to such get togethers, enabling them to know each other better. We have a lot of young members with young children which adds a lot of charm and life to these get togethers. Since the office bearers have to put in lot of their time, mostly after working hours, it fosters better understanding for their absence in their family time. Further, the families also help in organizing events during our meetings. Our Chamber is one of the most respected and popular association in our twin towns and is recognized widely by the government at the district and state level. We are approached frequently by the District Administration for assistance and even during natural calamities where, I am pleased to say, that our members have never lagged behind. We are extremely proud of this association of ours.
