OTAR: Over the Air Rekey OTAD: Over the Air Distribution OTAT: Over the Air Transfer CIK: Cryptographic Ignition Key; physical key that plugs into encryption device and allows access to encryption stored on the device Commo card/cut sheet: list of information to include frequencies authorized for use Frequency manager: person who issues out frequencies COMSEC custodian: person who maintains and issues out encryption Net Control Station (NCS): persons in charge of a particular radio network UNCLASSIFIED FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY 3 UNCLASSIFIED FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY Modes of Operation Single Channel (SC): Also known as Fixed Frequency and Line of Sight (LOS). Communicating on a single frequency, either without encryption, called Plain Text (PT) or with encryption, called Cipher Text (CT). Single key required for CT, either ANDVT for High Frequency (HF) or VINSON for Very High Frequency (VHF). Frequency Hopping (FH): communicating on over 100 frequencies per second over a spectrum of 2,320 frequencies, always in Cipher Text (CT). Starting point for hopping is the net ID. Must be within ±4 seconds to talk and ±60 seconds for late net entry. Loadset is required and typically includes 5 TEKs, 1 KEK, 6 hopsets, 1 TSK. Satellite Communications (SATCOM): communicating via satellite, always in CT/Cipher Text. Frequency code is input (into Harris radios), which has uplink and downlink frequencies associated with it. Single key of VINSON required for 25k/wideband SATCOM. Single key of ANDVT required for 5k/narrowband SATCOM. Adaptive Networking Wideband Waveform (ANW2): High-speed voice and data communications that is half-duplex but appears as full-duplex because of its speed. ANW2 key required for voice communications. HAIPE key required for data communications and stored in TEK number for month (January: 1, 13, 25, etc.).
