Modified Tackle – 8 Play Tackle Rules Playing Field 1. The playing field is 60 yds x 35 1/3 yards 2. The sidelines extend between the insides of the numbers on a traditional football field and should be marked with cones every five yards. 3. Additional cones can be placed between the five-yard stripes and in line with the inside of the numbers to further outline the playing surface if desired. 8-Player Rule Adjustments 1. Weight Restriction will be 95lbs to carry the ball Special teams adjustments I. 1. There are no kick-offs I. Each offense possession to begin the game or half or following an extra-point attempt will start on the 20 yd line (40yd line as demarcated on standard field) II. There are no extra points by a kick. I. All PATs are attempted through a run or pass try. Coaches can choose to go for one point from the three-yard line or two points from the five-yard line. Offensive adjustments I. Each play must include three offensive linemen – a center and two guards, one on either side of the center. I. These players are ineligible, regardless of formation II. The distance between a guard and center may not exceed three feet (one-yard) but may be closer. II. The offense must have five players on the line of scrimmage , no MORE or NO LESS (line formations images below) DOUBLE WR (5 on LOS) WR / TE (5 on LOS) DOUBLE TE (5 on LOS) I. QB / Center Exchange can be direct, pistol, or shotgun II. A run or hand-off into the A Gap is Allowed as long as the RB starts at least 4 yds deep in accordance w/ defensive adjustments I. No under-center QB sneaks into A gap Defensive adjustments I. No one is allowed to line up in the A Gap II. Defenses may only have two defensive linemen unless an offensive formation includes a tight end. In that case, a third defensive player may line up over the tight end. Two tight ends allow the defense to use four defensive players on the line of scrimmage. III. If the offense aligns with no tight ends, the defense may still align with four players on the line of scrimmage, but they must be positioned over the receivers they are covering. I. With the exception of the players covering the guards, the defense is not required to have additional players on the line of scrimmage but has the option to do so. (Corners do not have to line up on the LOS, but must be 4yds deep) II. There must be AT LEAST one player 10yds deep from the LOS III. All remaining players not established on the LOS must be min 4 yds deep from LOS IV. Players on the LOS can penetrate upon the snap, everyone else has to start from the 4yds deep and cannot proceed until the V. If the ball is inside the five-yard line, there is no 4 yd rule Single TE Set ALL RULES IN ACTUALITY Double TE Set • Defense Can Cover Interior Lineman • Option to Place RT Corner on line, but chose to stay 4 yd from LOS • One Player must be 10 yds from LOS • All remaining players must be 4 yds from LOS.
