SPRAYTALK Mar 10 Spraytalk March 2010 Newsletter of the Perth Dinghy Sailing Club COMMODORE’S COMMENT We are well into the second half of the season and there are now only a handful of weekends left until the end of the season. Just think of all those winter chores that are waiting to be started… It was a busy Christmas period at the Club with the Javelins hosting their Australian Championships. I would like to thank all the volunteers who took time out to come down and help run the regatta, particularly with both Brad and myself being away. I understand the volunteers in the galley, safety boat and start crews and organising committee did a fantastic job to ensure the regatta was a great success. Congratulations to all the touring members and families who competed in their respective National and/or World Championships over Christmas. From the reports I’ve received everyone had a great time, although not always doing as well on the water as hoped. Thank you to members who contributed a plate for Life Members’ Day afternoon tea. Unfortunately there were not as many life members present this year as normal, but the competitors didn’t seem to mind too much, with lots of food on offer when they came in from sailing. Thanks to the ladies for the tremendous afternoon tea. We also had a catered meal on Life Members’ Day which was very successful and I would like to thank all who stayed to enjoy the night. Unfortunately we did not have any members from the 2/4th Machine Gunners come down for the annual Anketell Memorial Trophy (held in conjunction with Life Members Day) as many of them are unable to attend, but I would like to thank them for the kind donation we receive every year. Many of our classes and members sailed at Koombana Bay Sailing Club over the Labour Day long weekend. It was great to see the International 14 back again this year and enough wind to get us around the course. Everyone I spoke to enjoyed Page 1 of 12 PDSC WEBSITE - www.perthsailing.org.au SPRAYTALK Mar 10 themselves and I would encourage you all to sail on the river recently taking out the attend next year to enjoy this brief getaway.
