Waimak United Football Club SENIOR MATCH DAY PROGRAM Saturday 7th July 2018 waimakunited.org.nz Photo credit: Sabrina Ilett COMMENTS FROM THE CLUB Alan Fraser Memorial Girls Tournament Greetings, We are one week off hosting our annual Alan Fraser Memorial Girls tournament. This will mark the fourth year of the tournament running and we are excited to host teams from Christchurch, Mid and South Canterbury and from around the South Island. We look forward to hosting them and we hope the weather can play in our favour and stay fine! Twenty five teams over three grades (10th grade, 12th grade and 14th grade) will kick off against each other over two days; Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th July, 2018. This is our biggest number of entries into our tournament and we wish them all the best. It is an opportunity to gather and show off their skills and dedication to the game we call Football! At Waimak United we are passionate about growing girls football and creating a pathway for them to reach top level football and to become life long footballers. We would like to congratulate the following for their achievements: Gabi Rennie in her inclusion to the provisional U20 women’s World Cup squad. Maddi Silcock, Jaz Ball and Ella Fong for their selection for the U16’s Canterbury United Futsal Squads and Lily Fisher and Macey Fraser for their selection for the U19’s Canterbury United Futsal Squads for the 2018 NZF National Youth Futsal Championships in Palmerston North. We would also like to congratulate Luke Supyk and Regan Frame for their selection for the Boy’s 12’s Canterbury United Futsal Squads for the 2018 NZF National Youth Futsal Championships in Palmerston North. Good luck from all of us at Waimak United! WAIMAK UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB MEN’S CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIP LEAGUE VS BURWOOD AFC 2.30PM KICK OFF KENDALL PARK Coaches Comments This Saturday we are back at Kendall Park to take on Burwood. A huge welcome to the Burwood coach's and players. Last Saturday we had a fantastic win at English park 2-1against Western, which backs up the form we have been in only losing one of the last 6. The team are really starting to click as a unit after having some departures and a bit of unfortune earlier in the season and are now really playing and believing in one another and that is showing in the results. This weeks game will again be a hard test and we are yet to beat Burwood having lost 4-2 and drawing 1-1 in the 1st two rounds. Gaining 3 points on Saturday will be a great end to an excellent 3rd round and we will look to take that momentum into the final round. The team and I appreciate the support every week and may this continue for the rest of the season. See everyone on Saturday. This week we come into our match against Halswell, with a strong view to lift our game back to our desired performance level. It is key for the girls to continue to believe in their own abilities and ensure we are more aggressive from the start, ensuring we are continually picking up lose balls and being more clinical in possession. Next week we see a number of our girls heading away for the National Futsal Tournament in Palmerston North; Macey, Lily, Jaz, Madi, Ella with our squad captain, Sophie, taking charge of the U14 Girls Futsal Pride. To complete a busy two weeks for our girls, Gabi, Macey and Jayda head away to the National U20 & U17 Football Ferns camps. Good luck to all our girls in their Futsal Tournaments and National Camps!
