Act of Congress, July 16, 1894. No. 77 CHARLESTON, ILLINOIS July 1, 1922 EASTERN ILLINOIS STATE TEACHERS COLLEGE -AT CHARLESTON ALUMNI REGISTER 1900-1921 [Printed by authority of the State of Illinois] -------- / I t--:.. -t .. ~t ~~: ···, .. ' , , ALUMNI REGISTER 1900-1921 FOREWORD The .-\lumni Register presents an outline of the history of our graduates. Year by year the classes have gone away-from the class of four graduates in 1900 to the class of seventy-two in 1922; from the time when we were only one year old to the time when we are twenty-three; from the time when we had no history to the time when we have a proud record of our graduates and <Of our school; from the time when there were no traditions. no customs, to the time when the calendar is rich in a pleasing succession of annual events and \Yhen a walk over the campus shows reminders of the classes once here. Those of our alumni who have gone to the universities and professional schools-and we take pride in the fact that the number is large-have won for us an enviable reputation by their distinguished· scholarship. Those who have gone into business or into professions have met with marked success. We have just cause for pride in our graduates and are heartened and strengthened by their success. The class of 1924 will have the honor of graduating at our twenty-fifth anniversary. :\J[ay every living graduate be here to celebrate that anniversary and may he find here for that celebration every living' member-past or present-of the faculty. THE ALUMNI REGISTER This ~\lumni Register contains the names of all alumni of the Easten: Illinois State Teachers College from 1900 to 1921, inclusive, and, with the excer>~ tion of ten, the present addresses of all alumni now living. The Register attempts to give a short history of each graduate since gradnation. The ctata were compiled from the rccorcts sent in by the alumni. a few of which were not complete. It is not to be expected that the Register contains no errors, and it is hoped that any errors discovered, and also in formation concerning those alumni whose reports arc not complete, wlll be reported to the Registrar so that the permanent record may he complete and accurate. The alumni whose records are incomplete arc mar:,cd with a dagger (t) in front of the name. The names of the alumni are arranged alphabetically by classes. In all cases where the town is in Illinois, the name of the state is omitted. The last address given is the address for the year 1921-22, but in some cases the occupation and street address arc not the same for the period of years indicated. There is also an aphahctical index of alumni and a finding list of married women. ~'\n alphabetical index of all former members of the faculty is includ ed, and in most cases their present addresses are given. The names of alumni who are deceased are marked with an asterisk (*) in front of the name. The names of those who served in the \Vorld \Var after graduation are marked with a flag in front of the name. The following facts arc of interest: There arc nine hundred and eighty-four alumni including the class of 1921. Of these about 30% have had at least a year's college work in addition to the diploma here: about 20% have received tl1C' bachelor's degree; and 3.6'1o, the master's degree. There are twenty-two who have received the doctor's degree in medicine. law, or philosophy. Five hundred and one are engaged in school work of some kind; twelve are teaching in rural schools; two hundred and seventy are teaching in grade schools: n111cty-three arc teaching in high schools; thirty are teaching in c?lleges .and universities.
