Novena to the Divine Mercy Which Jesus Instructed Me to Write Down and Make Before the Feast of Mercy

(These Novena Intentions and Prayers are taken from the Diary, 1209 to 1229. It is recommended that the Chaplet of Divine Mercy be said each day following these prayers. Concerning the Novena, Sr. Faustina wrote in her Diary:) Jesus, I trust in You. Novena to The Divine Mercy which Jesus instructed me to write down and make before the Feast of Mercy. It begins on Good Friday. I desire that during these nine days you bring souls to the fount of My mercy, that they may draw therefrom strength and refreshment and whatever graces they need in the hardships of life and especially at the hour of death. On each day of the novena you will bring to My heart a different group of souls and you will immerse them in this ocean of My mercy, and I will bring all these souls into the house of my Father. You will do this in this life and in the next. I will deny nothing to any soul whom you will beg My Father, on the strength of My bitter Passion, for graces for these souls. I answered, "Jesus, I do not know how to make this novena or which souls to bring first into our Most Compassionate Heart." Jesus replied that He would tell me which souls to bring each day into his Heart. Good Friday Devotions 7:00 PM - All mankind, especially sinners No Opening Hymn - All enter in silence. Opening Novena Prayer + In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit (All) I fly to Your mercy, Compassionate God, who alone are good. Although my misery is great, and my offenses are many, I trust in Your mercy, because You are the God of mercy; and from time immemorial, it has never been heard of, nor do heaven or earth remember, that a soul trusting in Your mercy has been disappointed. O God of compassion, You alone can justify me, and You will never reject me when I, contrite, approach Your Merciful Heart, where no one has ever been refused, even if he were the greatest sinner. (Diary, 1730) First Day Intentions: "Today bring to me all mankind, especially all sinners, and immerse them in the ocean of my mercy. In this way you will console me in the bitter grief into which the loss of souls plunges me." Most merciful Jesus, whose very nature it is to have compassion on us and to forgive us, do not look upon our sins, but upon the trust which we place in Your infinite goodness. Receive us all into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart, and never let us escape from it. We beg this of You by Your love which unites You to the Father and the Holy Spirit. Eternal Father, turn Your Merciful gaze upon all mankind and especially upon poor sinners, all enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. For the sake of His Sorrowful Passion show us Your Mercy, that we may praise the infinite power of Your Mercy, forever and forever. Amen." The Chaplet of Divine Mercy: Scripture Reading: 2Cor 12:7-10 (Lectionary I, #101, p 668) "My grace is enough for you". I will boast in my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may dwell in me. A reading from the second Letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians Brothers and sisters: That I, Paul, might not become too elated, because of the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, an angel of Satan, to beat me, to keep me from being too elated. Three times I begged the Lord about this, that it might leave me, but he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness." I will rather boast most gladly of my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may dwell with me. Therefore, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and constraints, for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak, then I am strong. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Responsorial Psalm: Homily St. Faustina's Praises of the Divine Mercy: LITANY TO THE DIVINE MERCY THE LOVE OF GOD IS THE FLOWER - HIS MERCY IS THE FRUIT "Let the doubting soul read these considerations on the Divine Mercy and become trusting. Closing Prayer For the Grace to Be Merciful to Others: (Diary, 163) O Most Holy Trinity! As many times as I breathe, as many times as my heart beats, as many times as my blood pulsates through my body, so many thousand times do I want to glorify Your mercy. I want to be completely transformed into Your mercy and to be Your living reflection, O Lord. May the greatest of all divine attributes, that of Your unfathomable mercy, pass through my heart and soul to my neighbor. Help me, O Lord, that my eyes may be merciful, so that I may never suspect or judge from appearances, but look for what is beautiful in my neighbors' souls and come to their rescue. Help me, O Lord, that my ears may be merciful, so that I may give heed to my neighbors' needs and not be indifferent to their pains and moanings. Help me, O Lord, that my tongue may be merciful, so that I should never speak negatively of my neighbor, but have a word of comfort and forgiveness for all. Help me, O Lord, that my hands may be merciful and filled with good deeds, so that I may do only good to my neighbors and take upon myself the more difficult and toilsome tasks. Help me, that my feet may be merciful, so that I may hurry to assist my neighbor, overcoming my own fatigue and weariness. My true rest is in the service of my neighbor. Help me, O Lord, that my heart may be merciful so that I myself may feel all the sufferings of my neighbor. I will refuse my heart to no one. I will be sincere even with those who, I know will abuse my kindness. And I will lock myself up in the most merciful Heart of Jesus. I will bear my own sufferings in silence. May Your mercy, O Lord, rest upon me. You yourself command me to exercise the three degrees of mercy. The first: the act of mercy, of whatever kind. The second: the word of mercy - if I cannot carry out a work of mercy, I will assist by my words. The third: Prayer - if I cannot show mercy by deeds or words, I can always do so by prayer. My prayer reaches out even there where I cannot reach out physically. O my Jesus, transform me into Yourself, for You can do all things. Amen. Prayer Over the People: May abundant blessing, O Lord, we pray, descend upon your people, who have honored the Death of your son in the hope of the resurrection: may pardon come, comfort be given, holy faith increase, and everlasting redemption be made secure. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. No Closing Hymn - All depart in Silence. Holy Saturday Devotions 3:00 PM - The souls of priests and religious No Opening Hymn - All enter in silence. Opening Novena Prayer + In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit (All) I fly to Your mercy, Compassionate God, who alone are good.
