And this year it’s going to feel particularly sweet to welcome warmer weather—we’re about two months removed from one of the coldest and snowiest winters we’ve ever experienced. It’s time to celebrate the Land of 10,000 Lakes. And one awesome new way to do that is Doors Open Minneapolis, a civic celebration honoring and learning our history from the most reliable sources out there—the buildings and people who have made it what it is today. On May 18 and 19 we’ll be giving every visitor free, behind-the-scenes access to over 100 venues, including my office, across our great city. Jacob Frey, Mayor of Minneapolis There are a whole lot of options, and to help you navigate those decisions, venues have been sorted into “unique themes.” So, if you’re interested in the more historic buildings, we’ve got you covered. Maybe the arts are more your scene? That’s great! We have some recommended venues tailored to your interest. The entire weekend is kid-friendly, and Doors Open makes for the perfect day date—how could you draw up a better Saturday or Sunday? Our city is one of the most inclusive places in the nation, and I hope you’ll be able to experience that firsthand during Doors Open. Go to www.DoorsOpenMinneapolis.org to learn more about the venues, decide what you’d like to see, and build your plan for the weekend of May 18. We look forward to seeing you then!
