Previously, she held the Chair of Chemical Materials Synthesis at the Institute of Materials Science at the University of Stuttgart. When she joined the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Materials Recycling and Resource Strategies IWKS, Prof. Weidenkaff was appointed to the Technical University of Darmstadt. Under her leadership, the new subject area "Materials Chemistry/Materials Engineering and Resource Management" will be created. Prof. Dr. Anke Weidenkaff received her doctorate in chemistry from ETH Zurich in 2000 and received the Venia Legendi for Solid State Chemistry and Materials Science from the University of Augsburg in 2006. She then became Section Head at Empa and Associate Professor at the University of Bern in Switzerland. Since 2013, she has held a chair in materials chemistry at the University of Stuttgart. She has published around 230 SCI-listed publications on materials research in energy conversion technology. Most recently, Prof. Weidenkaff was Director of the Institute of Materials Science at the University of Stuttgart. In addition, she is President of the European Thermoelectric Society (ETS), elected member of the Executive Board of the GDCH Division Solid State Chemistry and Materials Research and of the E-MRS Executive Committee. In 2011, she was awarded the Kavli Foundation Lectureship Prize. .
