Washington’s 2009 Big Game Hunting Seasons & Regulations Effective April 20, 2009 - April 19, 2010 New This Year At your request, special permit applications are due one month earlier so that the drawing results can be available sooner! Application Deadline Photograph By: May 20 Douglas Kikendall WDFW Big Game Hunting Seasons and Regulations Pamphlet Errata The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife has made several corrections and clarifications to the 2009 Big Game Hunting Seasons and Regulations pamphlet. Corrections announced on May 13, 2009 Corrections added on October 7 & 15, 2009 General Cougar Seasons (page 50) o The comma between GMUs 328 and 368 for the South Cascades, Blue Mountains, Kittitas-Yakima, Spokane Hunt Zone should be replaced with a dash. GMUs 328 through 368 are open for the general cougar season. Special Permit Cougar Seasons (page 51) o For hunt choice 9013, GMU 105 should not be listed under the hunt area for Stevens- Pend Oreille hunt zone (GMU 105 is now included in the Okanogan-Ferry hunt zone). Modern Firearm General Deer Season (page 17) o Under the Late Modern Firearm Western Washington Black-tailed Deer Season, GMU 410 is incorrectly listed twice (any buck & any deer) within the Nov. 19-22 timeframe. Any deer may be hunted in GMU 410 from Nov. 19-22. Modern Firearm General Elk Season (page 36) o GMU 330 (West Bar) is not open for Modern Firearm, General Season elk hunting. Elk Areas (pages 32 & 81) o The legal description for Elk Area 5056 Grays River Valley (Wahkiakum County) was inadvertently left off page 81. The description should read: “On or within 3/4 mile of agricultural land in the Grays River Valley within the following sections: T10N, R7W, Sections 8, 9, 17, 18 and T10N, R8W, Sections 13, 23, 24, 26.” o Elk Area 4041 Grandy Creek (Skagit County) is shown on the map on page 32. There is no season or description for this area. That area should be labeled 4941 Skagit River. There were no changes to the boundary of 4941 this year. o GMU boundaries and legal descriptions were included in the pamphlet for Elk Areas 6061 and 6068; there are no seasons in either of these GMUs this year. Elk Special Permits (pages 42, 43, 45, 46) o Footnote “e” is missing from the Mudflow permit hunts (Hunt Choices Numbers: 2150, 2151, 2259, 2260, 2337, 2338, 2600, 2706, and 2707). Footnote “e” refers people to see the following website before applying for these hunts for important hunt information and restrictions: wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/special-permits_raffles Landowner Hunting Permit Program Permit Hunts for Deer (page 28) o The blue note at the bottom of the table incorrectly references page 102 for information regarding public raffle opportunities. The correct page for more information is page 4. Bighorn Sheep Unit Map (page 53) o The Wenaha Sheep Unit (11) boundary is that part of GMU 169 within Crooked Creek drainage. The map on page 53 shows the hunt unit within the rest of GMU 169, not the portion within Crooked Creek. Disabled Hunter License Fee Clarification (page 12) o In order to qualify for reduced license fees (as listed on page 12) you must be a: resident veteran with 30% service connected disability; resident veteran 65 years of age or older with a service connected disability; resident that permanently uses a wheelchair; resident that is blind or visually impaired; resident with a developmental disability as defined in RCW 77.32.480. Reduced fee applications are available online at https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/wdfw/disability_apps.html or by calling (360) 902-2464. Allow two weeks for your application to be processed.
