The Dept. in association with the ISA VMEC student charter organized a Staff Development Programme on ‘Water Management, Conservation and Sustainability’on 16-05-18. The Faculty Development Programme was held at Valliammai Engineering College on ‘Industrial Data Networks’ on 17-05-18 & 18-05-18. The Faculty Development Programme was held at Valliammai Engineering College on ‘Electron Devices and Circuits’ on 21-05-18 & 22-05-18. Twelve Faculty members of EIE visited the industry at Nagman Instruments and Electronics Private Limited, Chembarambakkam on 26-04-2018. The Dept. in association with ISA VMEC student charter organized a Motivational Talk Programme for the second year EIE students on 27-06-18. Mr. G. Srinivasan and Dr. S. The Dept. in association with the ISA VMEC Student Charter organized a Value-Added Course on the ‘Calibration of Industrial Instruments’ in association with Nagman Calibration Services, Nagman Instruments and Electronics Pvt Ltd, Chennai in July 2018 on 14.07.2018 and 21.07.2018. The Dept. in association with the ISA VMEC Student Charter organized a Robotics Training Program on the ‘Design of Robots’ in association with SakRobotix Lab Pvt. Ltd, IIT, Bhubaneswar in the month of August 2018. The Dept. in association with the ISA VMEC Student Charter organized a National Level Technical Symposium ‘ORKESTRIM 2K18’ on 25th August, 2018. The Second Year U.G students (Section-2) of the Dept of EIE visited Nemmeli Sea Water Desalination Plant, Chennai on 28.09.2018. S, III year EIE participated in the National Level Symposium- Robotics, Technical Quiz and DUBG events on 8th September 2018 at RVS Padhmavathy College of Engineering & Technology. Mr. Karthikeyan. S, III year EIE won the 1st prize in the National Level Symposium- MAZE events organized on 8th September 2018 at RVS Padhmavathy College of Engineering & Technology. Mr. Jayasuriya. V, III year EIE completed a mini project on the ‘Lake Cleaning Robot’ under the supervision of Lema Labs, IIT Madras Research Park on 9th September 2018. Mr. Karthikeyan.S and Mr. Jayasuriya. V III year EIE won the 1st prize in the National Level Symposium- Line Follower on 15th September 2018 at Meenakshi Sundararajan Engineering College. Ms. MariyaLurdSteffy, III Year EIE, winner in Anna University Zonal IV - Ball Badminton (Women) conducted in Valliammai Engineering College on 23rd August 2018. Events –Oct, Nov & Dec 2018 DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES The Dept. in association with the ISA VMEC Student Charter organized a Faculty Development Program at Valliammai Engineering College on ‘Control of Processes & Concepts of Electrical Machines’ for the following courses - Computer Control of Processes, Process Control and Electrical Machines from 12-11-2018 to 17-11-2018. The Dept. in association with the ISA VMEC Student Charter organized a Staff Development Programme on the ‘Role of Emotional Intelligence in Workplace’ on 9th November 2018. The Resource Persons were Ms. Z. Jenifer and Mr. B. Parameswaran. The Dept. in association with the ISA VMEC Student Charter organized a Motivational Talk delivered by Dr. D. Doreen Robin, Ph.D., Director, Computational Intelligence Research Foundation, Chennai on 12th December 2018. The Second Year U.G students (Section-1) of the Dept of EIE visited the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Perambur, Chennai on 12th October 2018. Faculty members from the Departments of EIE, EEE and ECE visited Chennai Metro Water Desalination Plant, Nemmeli on 8th November 2018. Mr. Jayasuriya V, III Year EIE won the ‘Innovative Ideas to the World 2018’ competition on the topic ‘Robotics and Transports’ conducted in Alliance Francise India, Chennai, by Galaxy Education Consultants, in association with the Centralelille University on 20-11-18. Mr. Jayasuriya V, III Year EIE won the 1st prize in the National Level Symposium- Paper Presentation organized on 6th October 2018 at Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering. Mr. S. Bharadwaj, Mr. K. Thivakar II Year EIE, members of the Centre of Excellence in Robotics participated and won the Competition ROBOVR2018 under two categories, Robot sport in swimming and Rowing conducted at IIT, Bombay on 16th December 2018. Ms. Maria Lurd Steffy, III Year EIE won medals in the following. i. Silver Medal in the Anna University Zonal IV - 4*100M Relay conducted at ARS Engineering College on 13th & 14th October 2018. ii. Bronze Medal in the Anna University Zonal IV - 4*400M Relay conducted at ARS Engineering College on 13th & 14th October 2018. iii. Bronze Medal in Anna University Inter Zone Ball Badminton (Women) Tournament 2018-19 conducted at PSNA College of Engineering and Technology, Dindigul on 22nd & 23rd December 2018. Guest Lecture on ‘Modern Design Technologies in Instrumentation and Control’ delivered by Mr. Pathasankar A.M, Lead Engineer-Projects, Dritto Technologies’ Pvt Ltd., Chennai on 11th January 2019. iii. Under the Centre of Excellence organized a workshop ‘Learn the Bot’ on 26th January 2019 for school students. iv. Under the Centre of Excellence organized a Second Level of Robotics Training Programme on 5th and 6th January 2019. v. Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmadabad and National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board, DST, Govt. of India organized a three day Entrepreneurship program from 04th to 06th February 2019. vi. Under the Centre of Excellence supported by Sak Robotix Lab Pvt. Ltd, IIT, Bhuvaneswar organized a ‘Skill Development Program in Robotics’ on 8th February 2019. vii. Workshop on the ‘Emerging Trends in Industrial Automation’ delivered by Mr. M.K. Swaminathan, CEO, Arobot, Chennai (Director, MooVita, India-Singapore) on 09th February 2019. viii. Seminar ‘Higher Studies- Scopes and Benefit0s’ delivered by Mr.S.Sateesh Kumar, Chief Mentor, IMS Learning Resources Pvt. Ltd. on 13th February 2019. ix. Parents’ Teachers’ Meeting on 23rd February 2019. x. GATE coaching classes for the benefit of III and IV year students during the period from 26th December 2018 to 11th January 2019 and from 30th January 2019 to 8th February 2019. xi. An inspirational talk on the ‘Job Opportunities and Current Technological Developments’ delivered by Mr. K. Sundar (Oracle BPM Specialist), Infosys Ltd, Chennai on 9th March 2019. xii. PROJECT EXPO2K19 on 15th March 2019 for the Polytechnic students. Various streams of students from different Polytechnic Colleges in Chennai participated and displayed their projects in this exhibition. xiii. PROJECT EXPO2K19 on 21st March 2019 for school students. A total strength of 131 students from various schools gained knowledge from the projects displayed by EIE students. The Second Year U.G students (Section-1) of the Dept of EIE visited Sakthi Transformer, Chennai on 31st January 2019.
