National Response PGMA presided the cabinet meeting at Macaraeg Ancestral House in Timogan, Iligan City, Lanao del Norte on January 6, 2009 and joint RDCC meeting (X and CARAGA) at Camiguin Highland Resort, Mambajao on Jan 7, 2009 2 The President also presided a joint PDCC Misamis Oriental – CDCC Cagayan de Oro meeting with selected RDCC member agencies attended at Upper Carmen, Cagayan de Oro on January 21, 2009 The President distributed 1,500 food packs to the evacuees in Brgys Carmen and Macasandig in Cagayan de Oro City with PAGCOR’s medical mission The SND as Chairman, NDCC visited Cagayan de Oro City on 15 January 2009 and conferred with Mayor Jaraula of Cagayan de Oro City the current situation in the city. Regional Cluster Responses 1. Food and Non-Food Items Region I Affected families in Aringay, La Union were provided with the following relief supplies: DSWD I 90 family food packs; ABS-CBN Sagip Kapamilya assorted relief; Congressman Dumpit 3 sacks NFA rice, 2 boxes noodles and 4 boxes coffee; PNRC I 93 packs assorted goods and 2 cartons used clothing; MDCC Aringay 248 packs relief goods (1kilo rice, 1 coffee (25 grms), ½ kilo sugar and 2 packs noodles; PDCC La Union 90 packs relief goods (3 kilos rice, 3 noodles, 3 sardines and 1 coffee (50 gms) and 1 coffee mate) per pack Region V PDCC Catanduanes and DSWD5 SWAD team distributed relief assistance in the municipalities of Bagamanoc, Baras, San Miguel and Viga in the form of noodles, rice and canned goods amounting to PhP432,000.00. The affected municipalities initially provided local assistance to their respective constituents after the Province of Catanduanes had been declared under a State of Calamity. DSWD 5 augmented 100 bags of rice and assorted canned goods (pork and beans, sausages and sardines) and 50 pcs T-Shirts to PDCC Catanduanes Region VI PDCC Capiz provided food assistance in the affected barangays of Sigma, Capiz Region VII MDCC Amlan, Negros Oriental, MDCC Ginatilan, Cebu, PNRC Negros Oriental Chapter and other civic organizations provided food assistance and other needs of evacuees who stayed with relatives Region VIII The PDMO of Northern Samar provided relief assistance in the Municipality of Lavesares; DSWD 8 allocated 1,000 family packs; and LGU Lavesares released relief goods amounting to PhP46,800.00 OCD 8 coordinated with DSWD 8 for possible augmentation of food assistance to the affected barangays in Guiuan, Eastern Samar TOG 8-PAF dispatched two (2) helicopters and motorized bancas to deliver food assistance to Homonhon and Suluan Islands, Guiauan, Eastern Samar to address the need for food in the area in view of the lack of supply because there is no regular transportation available due to bad weather Region IX MDCC Lebason, MDCC Katipunan and Alliance Church provided food and clothing as well as distributed construction materials to the affected families Region X PDCC Misamis Oriental provided food assistance distributed as follows: Opol (7 sacks rice, 2 boxes sardines and 2 boxes noodles); El Salvador (7 sacks rice, 2 boxes sardines and 2 boxes noodles); Alubijid (7 sacks rice, 2 boxes sardines and noodles); and COC Evacuation Center (2 sacks rice, 1 box sardines and noodle) CDCC Cagayan de Oro provided immediate food assistance in Brgy Caman-manan ( 3 sacks of rice, 2 boxes sardines and 2 boxes noodles) Region XI MDCC Cateel, Davao Oriental provided relief goods to the affected families LGU Kapalong, provided 2 sacks of rice, 1 box sardines and 1 box noodles to the 58 families; LGU Asuncion served the 2,185 households with 138 sacks rice, 81 boxes noodles 44 boxes sardines and assorted medicines; CDCC Tagum City provided the 474 families with 49 sacks rice, 22 boxes noodles, 15 boxes sardines and assorted medicines; and 4 MDCC Carmen provided 50 sacks of rice, 23 boxes noodles and 16 boxes sardines to the affected barangays in Maco, Davao del Norte Region XII OCD XII coordinated with food cluster in the region for possible food assistance of 200 families affected in President Roxas, North Cotabato CARAGA NFA Regional Office released 1,693 bags of rice for relief operations in Surigao del Norte and Sur and Agusan del Norte on credit lines under MOA with LGUs Respective LGUs provided the following assistance: Prosperidad - 18 sacks rice, 600 tons sardines and 900 packs noodles to its constituents Rosario - 18 sacks rice, 690 tins sardines, 690 packs noodles and 230 tins corned beef Bunawan - PhP67,296.00 cash for fuel, medicines and food; PhP360,000.00 cash from PDCC Agusan del Sur for medicines and food assistance; and PhP100,000.00 from Philsaga Mining Corporation for food assistance MDCC Bunawan, Agusan del Sur Relief, Medical and Rehabilitation Team conducted relief operations in Brgy San Marcelino, Bunawan ARMM The Office of the Provincial Governor initially provided 629 food packs and instructed the SACC to prepare any assistance to complement the efforts of the municipalities affected.
