Adler While helping his family make ends meet during the Depression by selling newspapers, a boy meets Babe Ruth. Reading Level 3.2 Interest Level: K-3 Bad Kitty Gets a Bath by Nick Bruel This book takes a humorous look at the normal way cats bathe, why it is inappropriate for humans to bathe that way, and the challenges of trying to give a cat a real bath with soap and water. Reading Level 3.7 Interest Level: K-3 1 Breyer Stablemates (series) by Elizabeth J. Mills, Suzanne Weyn or Jane E. Garver This series features fun facts about horses and a keepsake card of a real pony. With Stablemates, every horse has a story! Reading Level 3.2 – 4.2 Interest Level: 3-6 Cam Jansen (series) by David Adler Cam (short for Camera) Jansen and her faithful companion, Eric Shelton, encounter various mysteries in this series. These stories are action-packed from the seemingly innocent beginning to the satisfying end. Reading Level 3.2 – 4.2 Interest Level: 3-6 Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs by Judi Barrett Life is delicious in the town of Chewandswallow where it rains soup and juice, snows mashed potatoes, and blows storms of hamburgers--until the weather takes a turn for the worse. Reading Level 3.7 Interest Level: K-3 **Dave the Potter by Laban Carrick Hill This story chronicles the life of Dave, a nineteenth- century slave who went on to become an influential poet, artist, and potter. Reading Level 3.1 Interest Level: K-3 2 Madeline (series) by Ludwig Bemelmans Madeline, smallest and naughtiest of the twelve little charges of Miss Clavel, wakes up one night with an attack of appendicitis. Reading Level: 3.6 Interest Level: K-3 Miss Nelson is Back (series) by Harry Allard Miss Nelson goes away for a week, and the kids in Room 207 fear that they'll have the dreaded substitute teacher, Viola Swamp. This is a great addition for the young reader who enjoys mysteries. Reading Level: 2.0 – 3.0 Interest Level: K-3 3 Pinkerton, Behave! by Steven Kellogg His behavior may be rather unconventional, but Pinkerton the dog proves it doesn't really matter. Reading Level: 3.1 Interest Level: K-3 Song and Dance Man by Karen Ackerman Grandpa demonstrates for his visiting grandchildren some of the songs, dances, and jokes he performed when he was a vaudeville entertainer. Reading Level: 3.8 Interest Level: K-3 Thunder Cake by Patricia Polacco A grandmother helps her granddaughter get over her fear of thunderstorms by getting her to help bake a thunder cake. Reading Level: 3.5 Interest Level: K-3 We Are Best Friends by Aliki When Robert's best friend Peter moves away, both are unhappy, but they learn that they can make new friends and still remain best friends.
