NOTICE TO OPERATORS Boston Logan International (BOS) Prior Permission (PPR) Requirements for General Aviation Operations Suspended Effective September 1, 2020 General aviation (GA) ramp capacity at Boston General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport (BOS) was reduced due to major airside construction projects. A Prior Permission Required (PPR) reservation program went into effect October 2019 to allow Signature Flight Support to effectively manage the limited parking. As the result of the major reduction in air carrier and general aviation traffic brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic the PPR program is being suspended and the associated NOTAM is being cancelled effective September 1, 2020. Parking remains limited as impacts of construction projects on and in the vicinity of the GA ramp continue with completion expected in 2023. To aid in GA parking space management operators are encouraged to contact Signature Boston in advance of their intended operation, especially for aircraft planning to RON for more than one consecutive night. The suspension of the PPR program is based on future estimates for air traffic recovery, especially the slow return of international air carrier operations. Should traffic levels rise above a certain threshold prior to the construction projects being completed, the PPR program would likely need to be reinstated. The suspension of the PPR program is attributed to successful stakeholder collaboration over the course of the previous 11 months. Massport, Signature Flight Support, the Massachusetts Business Aviation Association (MBAA) and the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) and other entities have worked closely to protect the needs of the general aviation community and to facilitate uninterrupted operations at both Boston Logan and Laurence G. Hanscom Field (BED) airports. Massport and Signature BOS coordinate each day to ensure an efficient, seamless, and, most importantly, safe experience for all general aviation users.
