Canal Festival − Canal Festival 2012 going ahead. BW Funding arranged, CEC funding to be discussed 6. Branding and Wayfaring − SUSTRANS developing signage for the Edinburgh cycle network which will include the Canal − City of Edinburgh Council, British Waterways and SUSTRANS to develop further signage for the canal to complement this 7. AOB − Canal Champion thanked for his work with the group. Following the May elections Economic Development will request for a representative to be appointed in this role. Delivery Plan / Other Issues • Fountainbridge Canalside Initiative o Uuu raised this new community initiative o Issue of loss of waterspace within Mc&Mic site (from Edinburgh Canal Society) • Watson Crescent Wall o ownership is an issue o aim to investigate all the options, but timing is right o reduce graffiti, remove railings, but with lockable gates o Artists to be involved? o HS + CEC‐training for stonemasons? • Edinburgh Canal Society/Ashley Terrace Pavilion o not structurally sound due to wall behind moorings o £10,000 to fix wall o No point in fixing boathouse ‐ Waste of paint Actions – List of works to BWS Meeting to discuss ‐ • Meggetland o Requests for housing and small boats to Canal Society from private owners o Issue of conflict with rowing clubs + private owners in same place • Calder Gateway o Funding ‐ takes about a year, stage 1 + stage 2 o Other pots of money can be included ‐ BIG fund, allotments o Housing site in MIR – proceed with funding bid?
